On another note, I scanned the cover of the Special features case for the datatbase or if someone makes a listing for them
All the extras for GB II are on disc 2 of the special features.

I did too. They're on bonus disc 2 listed as "Scene Cemetery."

Mine came from Amazon yesterday in a plain white bag with no protection at all. Got all the correct discs and the green light works, however one of the corners took a beating and because of it, the left panel that holds the movies is creased in the middle and slightly folds out. At this point I’m just happy to own it and all things considered, I’m still happy
My copy from Amazon still says,"Arriving Wednesday." I just hope it does. Then i'll worry about the condtion it comes in and if it's missing anything like disks and a slpcover.

I have Stargirl Season 2 which I ordered on 11/26, coming in from Amazon next. It's released this Tuesday but my copy isn't scheduled to ship until next week."Arriving Feb 15 - Feb 16."It specifically says,"Now arriving February 16"

So it seems currently my Amazon orders are schedule to arrive a week after release.

So I hope the Ghostbusters set does arrive on Wednesday since I ordered it back on 12/30.It hasn't shipped yet.The green bar is still very close to
Shipped.
My Stargirl set has the green bar at the exact same place.Very near to shipped

I have seen shipping move pretty fast once it goes out so It could ship in the next day or so and arrive the middle of the week.

I have two other releases coming out this week coming in from Best Buy.Summer School which has already shipped(it went out on late Friday) and is scheduled to arrive Tuesday and Catwoman:Hunted steelbook which is also scheduled to arrive Tuesday as well but hasn't shipped yet.It says,"Arriving by Tuesday.Packaging your item. but it's said this for the past week.

It feels like things get shipped so random now but since this Ghostbusters set is so limited,I just hope it does come in from Amazon this week and they didn't oversell me a copy.

As a fan of TV cuts (especially for Ghostbusters), I'm disappointed in this obvious approximation of the 1987 broadcast version. Most notably, the shot with "We came, we saw, we kicked its ass" has been retained for this version, but you can still view the shot with "What a knockabout of pure fun that was" (the shot that was actually in the television version) in the "Alternate TV Version Takes" feature buried in the Special Features menu.

It's nice that this scene, and a few others, are available in some form, but it's disappointing that they couldn't get the broadcast version right, especially when they clearly had all the elements to do so. And yes, those digital pans are awful.

Yeah, it's weird isn't it? All that absurdly smooth panning and scanning and it doesn't even have some of the more famous TV substitutions in there. For the "dickless" scene it's got the Wally Wick line from Ray and "the man is some kind of rodent, I don't know which" from Venkman. It's weird that Sony actually spent money assembling this from various elements instead of just slapping the TV master on there. Whereas the TV version of GBII does seem at first glance to be an actual older transfer.

Edit: the TV versions seem to match the descriptions here https://www.theraffon.net/spookcentr...eos-collection from much more recent TV edits. I know we've reached peak Blu-ray.com when we complain that TV versions aren't correct (after having taken the piss out of them for years) but the only possible reason to include them is to pander to nostalgia so why not try to recreate what they say they are, rather than some much more modern mishmash? Same with the TV edit of RoboCop on the Arrow BD, it's a more recent digitally sped up thingy while the separate selection of alternate TV scenes has all the takes we were expecting, just like how Ghostbusters has turned out with the 'classic' TV takes relegated to a separate bonus feature. What a bunch of...airheads.

There are several TV cuts. I don't think anyone is actually 100% got the lock on what is the definitive broadcast version. HBO even had a cut.

I say make your own. Lol

But then they still let Venkman's "Mr. Pecker" line squeak in, instead of using the "Mr. Wick" overdub that was on the broadcast version. So inconsistent.

"Peak Blu-ray.com" indeed. Hahaha.

Luckily there's still a true version of the 1987 broadcast online I can watch. "True" being "the one I had taped off TV in the 80s."

My set has not arrived yet, but that's disappointing. Kind of defeats the purpose of bothering to include the TV cut if it doesn't actually include all the alternate takes. Oh well.

I wish they would have made a better smart cut and I do feel your pain. In the end, at least it is all there somewhere.

Regardless watching these 4 movies (yes I love Answer the Call Extended edition and the digital copy does not do the off bars effects or the switch to Imax!!) Has been a party in a box. It truly has given ne so much joy and a new appreciation for all the movies. Such magic!

HBO has a "cut"? Being a premium channel, I wasn't aware they edited films aside from sometimes having unique pan & scan versions.

The TV version of Ghostbusters that was included in the box set is a later 90s, early 2000s edit done during a time when standards for what could be shown on television were much more lenient. The same thing was done with Robocop on Arrow's Blu-ray release but what makes this example worse is that it was actually advertised and labeled as being the 1987 TV cut. It kind of defeats the purpose of why it was included. There has to be an actual print of the original TV edit somewhere because it used alternate takes and wasn't just dubbed. I could have sworn the version I saw on CMT a couple of years ago was the version with all the alternate takes.

The pan & scanning is exactly the same as the '99 VHS. Whatever pan & scan process Sony was using in the late 90s was awful.

Exactly. That's fine with it being this modern, more lenient, digitally panned thingy, just don't literally advertise it as the specific 1987 TV version. Because it isn't.

HBO often have different cuts of films. It is not for censorship just different versions provided. Examples I can think if are Scream for Help, Midnight Express, Gremlins. Heck from what I understand HBO max still has weird edits.

You have no disagreement from me here. Maybe Sony will fix it!

I have a TCL Series-5. It has Dolby Vision.
I have the UB820. HDR10+ off but DV on. Set to 4:4:4

820 has an 8k HDMI into TV, audio HDMI into receiver.
Anyone?

Sony included the actual ABC TV broadcast version of STRIPES on the "Columbia Classics" 4K UHD they just released (it even has the "Edited for Television" graphic), so I wonder if they made a mistake and used the wrong TV master for GHOSTBUSTERS. I noticed right off last night when I looked at it, that's a much later edit for TV, not what aired on network TV and non-premium cable originally. Either way, I agree, it does defeat the purpose of its inclusion.

HBO always uses the theatrical cut, regardless of what's on home video. They typically list it if they're showing an alternate version.

How is their version of Ghostbusters and Gremlins different?
