Just got my power back on a few hours ago. Been a crazy weekend, luckily no major damage done to our home besides the side fences but all is good. Trees all around the neighborhood are destroyed and fallen over. But most important of all, my Blu rays are in tact! Lol

Anyways, looks like my plans of watching IT, will have to wait even longer as my local theatre will still be closed until who knows when. Sigh....

Not bad. That kid looks more like a young Jim Carrey to me.

Where are you located? With Irma gone, I can finally watch It this weekend. But hopefully the theaters around me aren't closed this weekend

I'm close to Homestead. I know the closest one to me is closed, not sure about the others but I suspect they will be closed aswell for another couple of days.

I plan on watching it in Doral City Place. Crossing my fingers they're open this weekend.

Well, considering the article mentioned there being "grave effects" for Mike having stayed in Derry, and Muschietti saying that the town has taken a toll on him and is a mess, etc., yet still brings the Losers back together
[Show spoiler](possibly in his death/suicide)
, it's understandable how I thought that was what he was alluding to (especially since Stan isn't at all mentioned, and we all know they've already switched some things among the characters).

However, according to THIS article, I AM wrong, luckily..

Kinda getting the feeling this may be front loaded and could drop heavily in the second week.

I see it doing 30-40 million next week. I also think the movie will have legs and do a consistent 8-10 million each week for the next two months.

Hmmm, you have...

American Assassin
Mother!
Lego Ninjago
Kingsman II

over the next 2 weeks. I will be very surprised if IT manages to uphold this big opening.

I also get the inkling that the movie might not do as well outside the US (except for a few places like the UK) because I'm not sure its as well known.

I think that, even if it does have a hard drop, Halloween should keep it around longer than usual and probably increase sales once October officially arrives. Though I'm not too sure, between Snowman, Blade Runner, My Little Pony, Suburbicon, and Jigsaw all out in October, it could be too busy of a month for this to get good business for Halloween, we'll have to see.

I have a questions, spoilers for the film, book etc

[Show spoiler]So Georgie gets his arm bitten off and dragged down. I assume Pennywise is taking the kids and eating them, but at the end they are all floating in his little base down in the sewers. So he's eating their fear but not physically their bodies?

It's a shame Freddie Highmore wasn't a bit older, he would have been perfect.

For the female character, I am going with Alicia Witt. Fine actress and not too old.

They've tripled their budget this weekend domestically alone. I think they'll be alright.

I was a fan of the tv-series and I re-read the book over the holidays before seeing this version a few days ago.

I had high expectations
[Show spoiler](perhaps too high) but I felt it was very rushed which couldn't be avoided I guess due to the length of the novel.

But my god certain cgi heavy scenes stood out like a sore thumb.

You REALLY think it's going to have a 75% drop by next weekend!

I agree that this will be heavily front loaded, but it will still bring in about $50-65 million next week.

It's also worth pointing out that almost all mainstream horror films have significant second week drop offs and usually are front loaded. IT will fare up better than most (and next week's releases won't threaten it in the slightest) but it just common sense that it will take a sizeable fall next weekend, but it'll hang around for the next two months for sure.
