Not meant as a recommendation in any way, but a cell phone can be used a hotspot so they don't necessarily need to watch on their phone.

But with respect to the JL film do you suppose the whole film will be 5 people standing in line? what if there are scene with two people fighting? or just one person in the scene? or a clos up of a person talking????

Since I missed out on the Powerhouse BD version I went ahead and ordered the Kino release from Amazon of:

Love me some Paul Schrader and this is also a blind buy. I think Schrader directed Hardcore right after, which is a terrific film.

it has nothing to do with field of vision.

Not sure why ( my guess would be because a more square image works better for a round lens) picture film had an AR of 1.33 and silent films ended up with the same (for the film Napoleon 1927 they ended up using three projectors which came out to an AR of 4 for the final scene which I believe gave us our widest screen, first wide screen and first VAR). With the advent of talkies some of the film needed to be used for sound so academy ratio came about at 1.37. Because colour TVs started becoming popular theaters/studios tried and eventually moved to different wider screen format in order to differentiate themselves and entice people into theatres (don't forget at the time movie world and TV world were two completely different beasts that were incompatible).

With home media becoming popular the two worlds eventually re-united (theatres and studios will still you rather see films there but they also make money if you see the film at home). So in 1996 16:9 came about as the geometric mean between 1.33 (TV/old AR for films) and 2.35 (cinema widescreen/new AR) which means if you watch 1.33 the area that is black bars is exactly the same as 2.35 or if it is P&S the exact amount of image is missing.

A movie filmed in 4:3 with IMAX cameras is not the least bit similar to a movie filmed in 16:9 and cropped to 4:3 with pan and scan.
have you ever taken a picture and backed off or zoomed out to fit it on screen? Even though it is not right I am guessing they see it that way. If their display is 4' wide, and it is 16:9 (or 2.35) the image is 4', on the other hand 4:3 the image is 3' so a lot less space on the wall (or as if they are farther away. But that is assuming you start with the false assumption that 1.77+ is the best aspect ratio (which might be true for some frames but not others.

If one looks on page 23 of the MPA report you will see physical and EST movies have about the same numbers in terms of use. Somewhat surprising considering the disparity between the number of capable EST devices vs the number of disc players.

I'd like to pretend it's not happening. 4 kids at the high school tested positive and 126 students are now home in quarantine including 2 of my 3 kids. We did test negative so I think they can go back next Tuesday.

I need to get Gattaca UHD... It's been so long it will be like seeing it for the first time but I remember it was good.

I canceled my Amazon order for BVS Remastered 4K disc and ordered it along with Man of Steel via Best Buy. Both should be here by Thursday.

Better price or availability or both? Have any plans for the 4 Indiana Jones UHD BD's?

Exavctly. Let us base a whole movie because of a poster shot!

The problem I have and why I am switching directions is that

A. It was not filmed using Imax cameras.

B. It was filmed with 1.85 in mind.

So the change seems fake as opposed to a real artistic decision.

A bit of both. Amazon was giving some April 23rd delivery date for the remastered version and BB said it'd be here Thursday. No-brainer. Also had a 10% off BB coupon that I had forgotten about, so threw in Man of Steel 4K disc to qualify for free shipping.

Oh, that Indiana Jones 4K box set will be mine. I loathe Crystal Skull but I'm in it for the trilogy.

You never had Man of Steel 4K, one of my favorite movie scores by Hans Zimmer. The BVS redo is cheap enough, shame we have to double dip to get the 4K extended that wasn’t present on the first ultimate 4K release.

Yeah, never had either of those 4Ks. I also don't have the 4K of Watchmen, just digital. I wish it was under $20, though. It's a bit more than $24, so hopefully the price comes down.

You constantly put the knife into the Blu-ray format. It’s bizarre and even more so considering you still buy disc. One only needs to look at your previous comments to see that.

Like how hard is it to provide comments about what you are watching never mind if it’s stream or playing media. The whole topic concerns what you are using so we can better understand what’s cool as far as our hobby.
