It's 5 days after release and Amazon still hasn't shipped my copy of On Dangerous Ground.

I'm sooo glad I pre-ordered it the day it went live.

Yes, you have to demand the whole enchilada !

I'd settle for a decent DVD of I, The Jury

Hammer Horror: 8-Film Collection is partly categorized as "Film Noir" on this site, presumably because of Paranoiac and Nightmare, both of which are, in my opinion, strongly "noir-stained."

At any rate, if you want some fun "noir-stained" films for the Halloween season, then you could do a lot worse than Paranoiac or Nightmare. I watched both films yesterday, and I give them an enthusiastic thumbs-up.

I ordered Cohen's Two Films By Douglas Sirk (A Scandal in Paris / Lured) from Deep Discount today. With the current 15% discount promo, it came to just over $34 which is the cheapest I've seen it.

This Autumn, you'll fall for... slapstick.

We invite movie lovers, comedy fans, and online learners from around the work to join us for a free, flexible online course, TCM Presents Painfully Funny: Exploring Slapstick in the Movies. Enjoy multimedia course materials, daily emails with movie clips and conversation starters, and ongoing interactions with fellow film fans on the TCM message boards or at #SlapstickFall.

In this course, we will explore the greatest slapstick gags in movie history by showcasing 56 classic films released between 1914 and 2004. Spanning almost a century of filmmaking, we will watch, discuss, and analyze the best comedy gags ever filmed involving physical comedy, broad humor, and outrageous situations.

The course will run concurrently with Turner Classic Movies' OUCH! A Salute to Slapstickprogramming event, airing every Tuesday and Wednesday in September 2016.

Both the course and the associated films will enrich your understanding of comedy, Hollywood filmmaking, and popular culture. You will be able to share your thoughts online and test your movie knowledge with a worldwide community of students, fans, and film lovers.

Well, I watched the Region B release of Somewhere in the Night (1946) last night and I thought it was enjoyable as a second tier Noir. It featured the film debut of actress, Nancy Guild. She was appealing, but truthfully, I thought she lacked chemistry with the star of the film, John Hodiak. Still, the film fulfilled a lot of the norms of Film Noir, night settings, femme fatales, amnesia, missing loot, etc. Hopefully Kino-Lorber can get their mitts on it and release it in the U.S.

I ended up having to drop out. The timing was bad, but it was also almost impossible to locate a lot of the films here, which really made the whole thing a lot less fun than the noir course from last year.

I hope they go for Westerns next year.

Currently 18.99 at Deep Discount. Probably the cheapest among online retailers.

It was $16.14 during their most recent 15% off sale (which is when/where I pre-ordered my copy). They seem to have those sales every month or so, so it might be worth waiting for another one (and topcashback gives you an additional 4% back, which is bumped up to 7% if you select Amazon for your eventual payout).

This is DVD, but Amazon has the Universal 10 Film Noir set on sale for $28.49. Not all of these movies are available on Blu-ray.

The upcoming release of Sudden Fear is just $15.34 at B&N. Plus there is a 20% off coupon that works on all pre-orders as long as you add something in stock to your cart (a cheap filler bookmark for instance). That's probably the best price you'll get for this film on release date and beyond. This coupon ends today

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-...=0741952828297

Apply code: BNGROUPON2 (expires today)

Thanks. That is lower than it will be during the 40% sale. The only way it would be lower is if you were a member and did ship to home from the store. I just placed my order for that along with Howard's End (also from Cohen Media at the same price).

I've seen them all, and they are excellent.

November will be Film Noir month for me, at least until I catch up on the unwatched films noir in my Blu-ray collection. (I've got a few recent Kino Lorber titles in the queue.)
