Subs are good, The issue is that you are missing the obvious. No one pays monthly for just one show, so releasing it in a different format won't affect the subs. While not releasing on disk loses all the extra money from the people that say "I am not interested in Disney+"

Just when I thought we would not see anymore new UHD BD players for awhile this was posted here. That makes 5 new models for 2021.

I remember when UltraViolet came out. Digital fanboys where convinced it was not going to go anywhere as well. In my experience everything eventually goes away, it is just a matter of when.

To me, UltraViolet looked like it established itself as the standard even though it was missing a few studios support and I was very surprised it stopped being a thing.

I'd say I believed in UV the same way I believe in MA now. Though, if Disney really run MA that seems to be a direct conflict of interest because they also run Disney+. Is Movies Anywhere missing Paramount like UV was? ... I think I see a pattern.

"At this time, movies from non-participating studios such as Paramount, Lionsgate, and MGM are not eligible and will not migrate to your movie collection"

These are studios that didn't support UV ? ... Maybe UV didn't go away it just became Movies Anywhere. Without all the studios and now that I think about why would everyone want to bow to Disney, Movies Anywhere will always be held back. It's a great way to get Vudu content into iTunes tho.

All the majors, except Disney, were UV members including Lionsgate.

Correct, these have never been MA members, they include codes for some titles but you have to select only one place where the code can be redeemed.

IIRC, MA is USA only while UV was international.

Wendell, I have Drive Angry 3D ... Still adore Amber Heard.

1163 movies in my iTunes movies and a few complete TV series (LOST, Office, Weeds, Game of Thrones, True Blood)
800 even in MA. I would like none of it to dis-appear. I share it with my family which is what I like best about it.
Well said mate, it’s not so much these huge companies disappearing. It’s more EST not being viable anymore, especially with subscription making exclusives such a huge deal.

Do you have Drive Angry in 3-D? I still duck when that tire tool comes my way! Do this for several other items during the movie.
I do mate. Really solid 3D with good pop out like you say.

Same as getting run over by a bus or a car then?

Some digital platforms are now well established. There is no reason to be worried. The top platforms are steered in the right direction. There are many other things to worry about like physical and mental health.

Read the story of Brian Acton co-founder of WhatsApp to get some perspective as not everything is doom and gloom.

It was a big improvement compared to the digital codes included before it. The point is no matter how good things look at some point in time things change with time.

The big question is, will EST maintain their improved YOY numbers or sink back to single digits. The latter and it won’t matter how big the storefronts are.

Why would anyone worry? If all my IPTV content disappeared tomorrow that would be OK with me because I have read most of my TOS/EULA therefore I know it could happen. And I agreed to those TOS.

To continue with your analogy I was taught from a young age to look both ways when I want to cross the street to avoid getting run over by a bus or car and cross if it makes sense. There is no reason to worry about getting run over with that one simple deed. On the other hand I would be worried for my loved one if he said "Just run into the street. There is no reason to be worried. The drivers of cars and buses will stop when I am in front of them."

who is talking doom and gloom? It is about going into things with eyes wide open. From the 70's every few years when a new console comes out I know I will be interested in the new format and only retrogamer very few past games very sparingly. Since I bought my PS5 I have not played on my PS4. Sine I got my PS4 I have only played Motorstorm 2 a handful of times on my PS3, the xbox before it no games.... Now fpoor me it is important if I wish to go back an play Motorstorm or So0nic the Hedgehog or Mario or Pacman.... That I can but when I buy a game I assume it will be played for a very limited amount of time. Same with Movies, I have a large collection of DVDs but I have not watched any of them since 2006 and for stuff like VHS I don't even remember when I last watched one of those films.

If someone says/thinks, I will enjoy the film on ... for now and when I can't do that any more I am OK with it I will agree with them 100%. But If someone ever said it will always be VHS or Blockbusters or Target Ticket .... because they are well established and sio will be around for ever I would have looked at them with contempt because nothing (no matter how well established) is for ever.

I snagged the Shout Factory Blu-ray of "Raising Cain" because it has the Director's Cut. I know the 3-disc Arrow Video UK version used to have that but it's no longer available and the single disc version of it only has the theatrical cut. A judgement call was made.
