L-O-L at the reveals for Bond's past and
[Show spoiler]Blofeld's origins.
Sounds like fan fiction.
It does. Frankly, it's just lame. Just...why even attempt it? I haven't seen the film and I already know I'm gonna have a problem with it, no matter how well Waltz sells it. I mean, the motivation behind four films (supposedly) is that?!

Get the f*ck out of here with that mess, Bond producers.

[Show spoiler]How does daddy issues makes sense when we're suppose to understand that Blofeld had a hand in the events in CASINO ROYALE (which makes sense), QUANTUM OF SOLACE (which makes sense) and in SKYFALL (which makes no damn sense whatsoever if you actually watch the film and Silva's motivations).

On top of that, I've heard from numerous places that they don't really act as if QUANTUM OF SOLACE was actually part of this whole thing? Yeah, White's in but they don't even really mention Greene or anything else from that film? Go all the f*cking way or don't even attempt it.

The reason CASINO and SKYFALL work so well is that they hint at "just" enough of Bond's history that it tells you everything you need to know about the character and how he came to be. At the end of SKYFALL, we're all done with Bond "BEGINS" so to speak. But to take it further with more past information is stupid. It's not needed at all.

I kinda hated it. I'm one of these people that doesn't expect Bond to be great, I'd be happy with good but nah. This was lifeless and very meh all the way up to the third act-ish (it was a bit mish-mashy) and kinda hard to tell when the third act started... anyway I digress, towards the end my head shaking got more and more frequent and things got more and more contrived. This film almost entirely leaves the Craig era Bond film's 'identity' at the door yet still clings on just enough to make it weirder. Plays like a bizarre caricature of what the older Bond films were, with overly convoluted writing added to the mix. The cheesy moments almost veered into complete parody.

Overall, it felt like the film was a wrestling match between the older iterations in the franchise and the recent ones but no-one wins and the audience (meaning me) loses. Invariably some will like it, but I didn't. It's old Bond style or new Bond style, it has to be one or the other but this film proves there's no middle-ground to be found. Well, none that satisfies me.
2/5!

[Show spoiler]Oh my God it's Blofeld and he's Bond's big bruv. Jesus Christ!!!

A lot of reviews, even the overall positive ones, have cited this as a negative.

Also, it's looking more and more like Casino Royale, for all its faults, was a fluke and the producers got lucky. Mostly by having a good book to use as source material.

Not 100% about the movie, but just a really funny interview with Graham Norton:

It honestly feels like the camp responsible behind the scenes is split on what type of Bond film they want to make. Then what happened is, they sorta met in the middle but they don't hit the right things on either side because the cheesier elements undercut the serious stuff and the seriousness makes the cheesier stuff look downright absurd in contrast.

It's either or IMO. It can't be both. I genuinely hope this is Craig's last Bond too. The rights are set to be re-negotiated soon so it's a perfect chance for another studio to swoop in and deliver a fresh take with a new James Bond.

Um, what? The third act was fine in the original version. It was Sony forcing a rewrite that completely screwed it up.

How am I wrong? There was an article that said Sony decided to come in and change the whole final third of the movie, ruining the original vision Mendes and Craig had envisioned. When I come across it again, I'll post it here.

We'll I loved it a lot. Wish it sidestepped a lot of the Craig Bond continuity and delivered just another great stand alone film. But it was all around ace when it came to being a Bond film.

Nice to hear that it finally came full circle. So if Craig decides to do another one, it'll probably be a great stand alone Bond adventure, and if he doesn't then at least his story has been told and I can happily accept a new Bond actor. (Craig is my favorite btw).

It does, but they set up things that would be Craig centric, unless they finally state that Bond is the same person no matter the actor

What point? I made no points about it. All I said was read it for yourself. Then I gave you the spoiler you asked for. Since you make a point of it, yes, some significant changes were made, but when you read all the pages about 75% or more remains the same.

I trust your judgement as you seem to have a similar taste to me. I'm seeing it on Sunday!
