Yeah, Spielberg in no way hates Jurassic Park. A lot of misinformation in this thread. He has stated he felt upset going from working on one film to the other between it and Schindlers List. But he also worked on Jurassic Park post that film as well and said sometimes it felt like therapy for him to make it following Schilders List. So it’s very apparent from interviews he had mixed emotions doing both in one year.

However, all one really needs to do is watch the myriad of extras for Jurassic Park to realize how proud he is of the film. He was also seriously involved in the 3D version.

They need a cameo in JW2 or JW3 so we'll see what happened to them.

If only Sony had the rights for Jurassic Park we would have gotten reference quality image and Atmos.

Remember, the default Nokia ringtone is actually the jingle for the Kirby's business. I bet they are raking in the licensing dough to that song.

Maybe the Kirby's found their way back to the main island in time for Fallen Kingdom.

Maybe, maybe not. Sony isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination. remember, they were the studio that butchered The Fith Element. Look how long it took to get a good blu-ray of that movie. In fact, Sony wasn't always consistent during the blu-ray years. But then no studio was perfect. No studio is. They all have some sort of warts.

I also don't buy that he has such a dislike for JP still when he bothered to oversee the 3D conversion (and he has always said, that's the only one of his old movies he wanted to do it for). If he really didn't care about the film still, would be easy to just pass on being involved with any restoration/re-release.
Except that's not the interview I mentioned. In the Empire one, he used more strong words other than "angry" and "resentful", saying that he was "bitter" and "furious, just furious" at the dinosaurs.

Spielberg himself never said he still dislikes the movie. I just think that his awful post-production experience (not to mention his lack of enthusiasm while making the sequel) may have led him to not be as hands-on with the film as he would have been otherwise. It's no skin off my nose if I'm wrong - I like it just the same.

Perfect or not, their attempt at Jurassic Park would have shat all over Universal's version.

There have to be more than a few others who could assist with Jurassic Park if Spielberg himself doesn't wanna do it. Universal's either too cheap to shell out for a new transfer, or what we keep seeing are the mixed results of good intentions.

But so many Blu-ray "aficionados" whined about the warm grading, saying they preferred the ugly-a** pink-magenta tinted 2DBD, that Universal decided to go back to that horrible timing.
Congrats guys! This 4K does not feel an inch like a 1990s photochemical timed film. It looks like a modern 4K VIDEO shot movie.
The Mummy 1999 looks absolutely and irrefutably like a 1990s FILM, not VIDEO like this trash.
Compared to this, I thought the VUDU 4K version had better colour grading and didn't feel as flat and pinkish.

The 3D version looks far more filmic due to the warm original grading, while the UHD has that same cheap pink, blue grading of the DVD/BD.
Glad I bought the 3D BD. The lab is supposed to have warm lights to help with the incubation. Even the novel says the lab was bathed in a reddish glow.
So the VUDU 4K version is based on the 3D transfer?

Im very disasppointed with the boring color grading of the UHD Blu-ray. It dont feel right.

That the road to hell is paved with them. Are you back on satirical mode now? I can never tell if you're actually making a serious point.

Don't forget Spielberg was on the set of Johnston's JP3 several times (as documented in the supplements) so he couldn't have despised the series too much.

There is literally no way he hates JP... He basically dreamed of bringing dinosaurs to life since he was a kid. The joy he had for those two movies is palapable. Just because he doesn't meticulously get involved with home video releases doesn't mean he hates the series, nor is it a slap in the face from him to us fans!

Think of how many with each new format he has now approved of this barely 25 year old movie (that's also not his most revered nor personal; like a CE3K, ET, Raiders, Jaws). He's getting older, likely cares even less how his films LOOK than how they feel. Probably thinks the blu-ray, 3D and UHD have been stellar transfers in his eyes/standards.

Doesn't strike me as a proficient technical animal who is obsessive of a video transfer like some other directors out there.

My arguments with the screenshots show a pattern. A pattern that reveals consistency in colours in all except the 2D home video versions. You didn't even look at the 35mm film frames whose link I provided a few posts back. It was warm, earthen and not pale and cold like the 2D BD, UHD.
I don't know why you guys are sticking to the 2D versions as gospel.

Look here - https://imgur.com/a/RtHd0iH
I love the original print colors from your link, it looks so much more filmic and stylic.

Maybe we could start a petition for a remastered Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray with the original color grading.
Da you hnow if they did 2013 the 4K transfer in 4K (4K scan and complete postproduction in 4K) and the color grading before or after the 3D convertion.

On Titanic, they did a full 4K restoration with color grading, without DNR and used them for the 2D and 3D Blu-ray.

After seeing all the different color grades floating around for Raiders of the Lost Ark, I'm not really surprised by JP1 and the variety of differing colors.
