I must warn you though, this movie will only be projected on Digital IMAX screens, or Lowercase IMAX/LIEMAX. The aspect ratio of the screen isn't 1.44:1 but 1.90:1 (close to 1.85:1 academy flat). And the movie will be displayed with the same aspect ratio as in scope (2.39:1) screens, that is 2.00:1. So, the LIEMAX ticket that you purchased will show the movie with black bars on the top and bottom.

The image within the LIEMAX frame would look exactly like this -

Not too bad, I suppose.

And, in a regular cinemascope screen, Jurassic World would be projected like this -

I know. I can deal with the thin black bars at the top. Wouldn't want to watch this on a scope screen.

Unfortunately, where I live, all theatres capable of showing 3D are in scope, unless there are some I am yet to discover. So that means I'll have to make do with black bars at the sides. Unless I travel to another state altogether and the high cost of travel and accomodation would still have been justified had there been a taller aspect ratio version in IMAX, but it's the same, so no deal.

I wish all these films were in scope 2.35, I really don't like 1.85, it doesn't give me the feeling of true cinema experience, more like glorified tv.

I prefer flat ratios like 1.85:1 because it offers enough headroom for tall subjects and the closeups look better. You can never have good closeups in 2.35:1, cause either you have to keep a lot of unused space at the sides or have extreme closeups that feel too tight. I miss the 1.85:1 screens. But all these are just my individual perspective anyway! And by the way, dinosaurs would never look good in a cinemascope ratio as they're tall subjects. Sharks and alligators would. Heck, they shoot Pacific Rim in 1.85:1, but Godzilla is done in 2.39:1. The latter would surely have benefited from a 1.85 frame.

Interestingly, Jurassic World's framing is quite expansive and appears to me that it would look fine if cropped to either 1.85:1 or 2.39:1.

P.s: I don't dislike 2.00:1 either.

It has to brother! That's a mathematical certainty. Unless they were to crop the image to 2.39:1, then it'd fill the screen.

Okay, so which intern did they give this to? Really?

Dear God, I think I might wait to see this at home. I can't believe I just typed that. Jurassic Park made my 6th Grade summer...

Did anybody inject Godzilla gene on this dino, which would account for its monstrous size, I guess.

io9 just put a Jurassic World header image on an article about voting for the Summer's "biggest flop." Interesting.

It won't flop, it will probably rake in $600M overseas alone.
