Oh, it's an instant classic in my book. I remember seeing the trailer they made way before actually producing the film, and couldn't wait to see the film - so much so that when it finally received a limited UK theatrical run, I went with my then-girlfriend to see it at Greenwich Picturehouse, only one other couple in the whole screening and we all couldn't stop laughing.

It's a shame Icon weren't confident enough to release it on Blu-ray over here - hopefully they'll see sense one day, or the UK rights will go to someone else. Last I heard the director Scott Sanders was making a Lucha Libre parody, starring Luis Guzman and Terry Crews...can't wait to see that one.

It's pretty much confirming Kleber Mendonça Filho's Aquarius as an Arrow Academy title, which is already up for pre-order on Amazon and has been for quite some time. Slightly surprised they're pushing more contemporary Arrow Films acquisitions into Arrow Academy and Arrow Video, but that's also a good thing because we then get special features and booklets for these films.

I loved Filho's Neighbouring Sounds - so much so that I wish Artificial Eye had released it on Blu-ray - so I'm looking forward to this one. I reckon they might do a similar thing for Koreeda's After the Storm, which would also be quite nice as his films are rarely given special treatment.

Yeah, I figured it out just after posting. It's definitely aquarius the brazilian film by Filho. I wasnt thinking that would be it since someone already revealed it last month by finding the amazon UK lisiting:

Yes, Black Dynamite = one of the best comedies of the past couple of decades!
Watched the trailer for it so many times in anticipation of seeing the actual film, and it didn't disappoint.

There is a Region A blu ray if you are region free from cinema guild (a good label for contemporary arthouse films).

After the storm would be great. Arrow released 2 Koreedas way back in 2012 (i wish and like father, like son) in addition to 2 other contemporary arthouse asian films (a simple life and poetry). I don't know why they stopped (possibly low sales?) but i would be happy if they had more releases like this under Arrow Academy.

Was going to suggest Miloš Forman's 10 years after everyone stopped caring version of Hair as it's with United Artist/MGM and in theory at least within easy reach but surely that would be on Arrow Video? Either way unless they included the absolute dog's bollocks of bonus material I won't bother buying it.

It's on a short list of my favorite comedies ever. Even if you only have a passing familiarity with the genre it's parodying, it's hilarious. So many quotable lines, and it's done with such love. The soundtrack is also one of my favorites of all time. I wish that composer would get more work. His albums are pretty good, but I want more!

I thought the movie held up really well. The remaster doesn't look as good as other 16mm remasters like Texas Chainsaw and Evil Dead, but it still looks much better than previous editions. The rough look matched the film well anyway. The packaging is great. Haven't watched any extras though.

There's as much anticipation for Arrow's picture clues as there is for the announcements themselves (there is the possibility of being disappointed by the announcements as well). They do remind me of the game show 3-2-1 with the difficulty sometimes.

The recent films I don't mind seeing from Arrow, alongside the older titles and the foreign-language TV series. Aquarius (and The Ghoul) I'm looking forward to.
