Just saw Doberman Cop a week ago. Not the greatest by any means but it has enough weirdness and fun in it making it worth a watch. I wouldn't rush to own it but if the extras are good I wouldn't pass it up either. 70's Japan is just so much fun to get a look at. Gotta love the funky music and hip go-go bars.

Is it better than the Kino version? Or is the Kino version the one to grab??
Anyone?

I didn't see a thread on this title so I was surprised.

Commentary at the time of release suggested they were pretty much a wash, with Arrow having slightly better compression and everything else being equal.

According to DVDBeaver, Arrow Video's version of Pieces is Region Free, which doesn't come as a surprise to me since most UK Only Arrow Video versions of domestic releases that are region free to begin with end up being Region Free themselves (The Guyver, Class of Nuke 'Em High, Caligula, Maniac Cop and Madman in particular).

Got my Petri and Rosi mixed up a couple of pages back, apologies. Luckily I didn't chuck in my plea for Rosi's THE MATTEI AFFAIR alongside it, that would have made things even worse. I'd like to see as many titles as possible from both directors eventually appear.

Well hopefully Arrow see the interest in Todo Modo and A Quiet Place in the Country getting Blu-ray releases.

I'm hoping Arrow consider releasing a boxset of the Lenzi-directed trilogy of Paranoia, So Sweet..So Perverse and A Quiet Place to Kill, and if possible include another Carroll Baker-starring film called The Sweet Body of Deborah.

That would make a nice box. DEBORAH would make a lovely stand-alone release all by itself too though.

There's a pretty good German blu of that. The only drawback is that it doesn't have the English dub (options are: Italian audio with English subs).

With the boxset you could kill two birds with one stone, having that trilogy released together (with the option for later separate Blu-ray releases for those who don't want all three films), with an essays booklet and extras/bonus features. That's a very good suggestion, a separate release of The Sweet Body of Deborah (it had a German Blu-ray release (last year?), and apparently they didn't include an English audio mix).

It's Fukasaku, and it's Chiba, so it's quite possible.
Its not possible, its definite

Has anyone who pre-ordered Story of Sin from the Arrow store had it dispatched yet? It's been out in the shops since Monday and mine still hasn't even been dispatched, their store has really gone downhill over the past year or so.

Just saw this:

Looks pretty swanky. I quite like Visconti but for some reason I haven't been that hyped up for this one, nor MoC's Conversation Piece. I'll definitely get both at some point, but I still have Rocco and His Brothers and Bellissima on the shelf left to watch.

I reckon MoC may try to get Sandra as part of their Sony deal. That would be interesting to see...and of course Cult Films have a couple on their way over the next couple of months.

Thanks for the image. I'm really hyped for this, but I'll have to wait 2 weeks for Ascendia to get it across the Atlantic via mule and canoe.

Ahh...First World problems.

Nice (It looks like the book is 80 pages, as well).

It's out on the 27th Mar - and HMV have it for £19.99. Not sure how well this will sell, so may wait for a future sale: although it is already £5 cheaper than on Arrow's site.

Near payday is always better for me.

"Two viewing options: the full-length theatrical cut or as five individual parts" - that explains the 2 amarays, then.

For me, both Ludwig and The Damned were interminably long (Death in Venice veered in that direction too but managed to save itself). I much prefer earlier Visconti to these.
