Strangers is good and Chancer.

As for the listed comedies I only have series 1 of The Cuckoo Waltz.

Thanks. Would I need to have seen The XXY Man (comes before Strangers & Bulman) before I watch Strangers?

Is The Cuckoo Waltz any good or have you not got round to watching it yet?

Without knowing your tastes its hard to recommend outright any of these shows. This isn't say they aren't good just not many are a must have like The Saint or Danger Man IMO.

I don't believe you need to have watched XXY Man to watch Strangers.

I own or would buy most of the dramas, particularly the historical/costume dramas and Strangers, as regards the comedies I would pass on most, either haven't seen or I remember them as being okay but nothing special. I liked the Cuckoo Waltz but I don't necessarily trust my memories of nearly forty years ago.

Thanks. I do like a mixture of things though & I probably should've mentioned that I'm a Lewis Collins fan.

Has The Cuckoo Waltz been repeated on ITV 3 at all recently? As I could try that out there first.

Honestly don't know if it shows up on ITV3. Lewis Collins did the first three series but not the last, as by then he was doing the Professionals. My memory is pretty sketchy but I believe as the series went on he became a more important character.

Here's an episode from Series 3.

The XXY Man does introduce Don Henderson's character , who subsequebntly appears in BOTH Strangers & Bulman series which follow XXY Man series respectively, though.

There's a far stronger argument for watching Strangers before Bulman then XXY Man before Strangers and then I would say it's not absolutely essential.

Is the 7-63 Up set already OOP? Seems to be OOS everywhere but I'm hoping it's just between pressings, there was likely a big rush on demand in light of Apted's passing. Don't think it was tipped as a limited edition was it? Hoping it comes back!

I might make a sale order, for example Follow Me doesn’t appear to be streaming anywhere.

The Intruder is only streaming in SD not HD.

A quick shout out for Neil Sinyard's excellent analysis of 80,000 Suspects in the Bluray's booklet - a long read but a good one, both critically re-appreciating the film and going into its production history and the differences from the source material, it's the kind of in-depth quality criticism the media seems to have long since given up on and genuinely deepens your appreciation of the film.

I got

The Naked Civil Servant, The Shout & Hell Drivers BDs in the sale.

In the end I decided to get both Storyboard & one of the spin-offs Mr. Palfrey of Westminster in the sale but Paypal was playing up/taking too long to load so I ended up paying full price which I didn't know I was until after I'd paid. Bloody annoying.

Forgot about the sale completely, went back earlier and it's finished.

This has just reminded me that about 2-4 years ago I could've got Thomas and Sarah for £5 at one of the two London film fairs I go to regularly, albeit 1 less so due to it moved to a Sunday & it clashing with women's football & this was long before I bought the Upstairs Downstairs boxset in a Network sale.

Yeah, they emailed about the sale on the 5th, but they could have done with sending a reminder “last day of the sale!” email.

There’s more I could have ordered though. Rome Express, but it’s cheap on Amazon anyway and £2 more expensive isn’t a massive difference. Master of None, but I had enough unwatched TV series anyway. One of the British Film DVDs, but I figure it might be upgraded to Blu at some point anyway. And the Guy Hamilton film I mentioned above.

A couple of DVDs that I ordered Utopia, World in Action aren’t actually listed on the site database.

Once I put in 7 items/more than £30 worth it was charging postage so I decided to keep the total under that. I can’t actually remember the last time I ordered direct, I end up forgetting about sales or not seeing it as a significant discount. Of course if it’s a 40% or 50% off title or only a couple of quid, or something you’re really after, the discount is a no brainer. But the £2 titles from 2018 I don’t expect to see again.

Btw, i noticed the DVD of Altman’s Vincent and Theo seems to be OOP.

The Naked Civil Servant is a masterpiece, I didn’t notice the latter two on sale though, how much were they reduced to?
