Sound is just as important as the video is.

Most of us not only want to see the movie, but we want to hear it and feel it.

We pay good money for Disney movies, so we're entitled to the full package.

I don't think it was meant to make the UHD look awful, just that it didn't seem to be from a 4K scan. And since we know there was one done a few years ago, it's a bit of a head-scratcher why, if they weren't going to spring for a new scan, they wouldn't at least use the existing one.

He's joking. Universal is never gonna lose the rights to one of their most lucrative franchises. We're stuck with whatever they're willing to give us for the rest of time.

Audio is 60% of the experience. They can't get that right, so their discs are failures.

Just had the opportunity to watch the first hour of Jurassic World (was interrupted and had to leave the house for a bit) but I like how natural it looks. Haven't watched it since it was in theaters so this preview was a nice treat.

And wow I forgot how much I enjoy the movie itself. Gonna go through all of the movies this weekend but I'm even more excited for Fallen Kingdom now.

It's not clear at all. In fact I have yet to see a single good argument for it ("It doesn't look as good as it should therefore it's the old master" is not one.)

The BD master has pervasive telecine wobble throughout which is completely absent from the UHD master.

But yeah, it is almost certainly not from a 4K scan. Wow.
I looked at the "slider" pics again and read a couple more reviews, and I think I take this back. It doesn't seem to be the same scan as before, and to be honest, compressed web images are not going to tell us for sure whether something is actually 4K.

It's just that the part of the image that's apparently from the UHD seems to have less detail than the BD, at least in some shots.

Hey guys sorry I’m sure this has been discussed to death but I haven’t logged in in a while.

How’s the blu ray of the first film look?? I originally bought the trilogy set cause that transfer was much nicer than the 20th anniversary one. Wanting to know if I should just pick up the single release for the first film or is it the same transfer as the 20th?? Not talking about the 4K

All the Blu-ray releases have been the same transfer (except the 3D disc) and this one is no different, unless you’re referring to the 4K disc.

Correct me if I’m wrong please but isn’t the transfer in the 2011 box set different than the 25th anniversary release? I saw a video on YouTube comparing it and showing the dnr done to the 2013 release. Im just wondering if the new release of the blu ray single of the first film is the same as the 25th anniversary one of the one featured in the 2011 trilogy set?

I don't have the 25th anniversary release, but 2013 is when the 3D BD came out. That sounds like the 3D release on the comparison of the Youtube video, as that is well known for the DNR. As far as I know the 2D Blu-ray has always been the same disc, if not exactly the same master and probably same encode.

That video was posted on here a few weeks ago and its very misleading as the 2D BD has never been remastered, every repackage has included the exact same disc released in 2011 but in 2013 the film was released on 3D BD and that did have a different transfer but the included 2D BD was still the same old disc just as the new UHD set contains the same old BDs.

Anyone else notice that they re-rendered Rexy in the film still on the boxart? I wouldn't be against lightly remastered Jurassic Park with full 4K scan of the OCN and the few minutes of CGI shots being re-rendered/recreated at 4K like this. Imagine it in motion!
