So I just read an article that Crystal was wanting to leave the competition a couple of weeks ago due to stress and being homesick. Luckily Seacrest told her she'll be able to buy her mom a house when everything is over and done with so Crystal has decided to stay in.

Isn't that kind of the point of the show, to give normal people a shot at stardom?

I watched Idol for the first time in a few weeks, on Wednesday.

I think when they have meetings over what to do with the show for next season (with Simon leaving, and whatnot), one of the first changes on their list should be to axe the lip-synched performances that always start out the results show.

Is it me, or does it seem even more annoying this year than ever? Maybe it's because half the people on the show are terrible at lip-synching, and don't even seem to be trying.

Some people will move their mouths when it's not their turn to sing, others will have facial expressions that don't match the voice you're hearing. It's just weird.

And I feel bad for them.

The Ford commercials can go too, but I doubt they will, since the show likely makes a ton of money from them.

Are u talkin about the special guest or the contestants?? I dont think the contestants lip sync at all. That wouldnt make sense if they do. Also unless I am trippin, u can here who is singing when they sing. Got Em!!

Whenever they do a group performance (like last week's Elvis medley), they are lip syncing to their own pre-recorded in a studio track. Most of these people are new to performing and singing, they can't handle something like singing, timing, and choreography all at the same time. Most professional singers still lip-sync when heavy choreography is involved.

I agree, it's been painfully obvious this season.

Theme is inspirational songs with Alicia Keys

Casey - Very good, easily the best so far!

Lee - good but not spectacular

Tim - Badly pitchy.....not good at all

Aaron - No change in the arrangement...sounded karaoke-ish

Siobhan - Pretty good......I was really hoping for that high note, she could have pulled it off.

Mike - Funny he sang "I'm so high" on 4/20. Good.....like Siobhan, I was waiting for that big note he could have pulled off.

Crystal - Why she doesn't have a record out already, I dunno.

Here we go:

Casey - Good and entertaining, but nothing great about it.

Lee - Very solid, but not as good as some of his other performances.

Tim - Meh. I didn't want to

but it wasn't very good.

Aaron - Meh. I didn't like it. I agree with Simon, I wouldn't have made it past 10 or 15 seconds listening on the radio.

Siobhan - I concur with Randy and Simon.

Big Mike - Awesome

Finally he changes his song type up and does something different. Though I will admit, I would have preferred to hear Lee sing this song.

Crystal - Meh. I still just don't care for her voice

My take on the performances:

Casey - Very plain performance and he is getting kinda boring actually. Still ok.

Lee - Great performance.

Tim - An ok "Tim" performance.

Aaron - 1st half weak, 2nd half really good. Overall solid.

Siobhan -Man I just love her range and different notes that she can hit. I loved her performance as I usually do. It doesnt matter how big the song is if u can sing it.

Mike - Very good, but not great.

Crystal - Cream of the crop and is easily the front runner to win this competition.

Tim is goin home tomorrow finally. We will be one week closer to my predicted top 5! Diesel u are still killing me. Finally Katie got eliminated so I didnt have to hear u overrating every performance she gave!

Then u still wont give Crystal her props and she is easily spectacular week after week. When will u learn my friend? Got Em!!

I have to admit that I used to watch this show all the time but have not been interested the last 3 seasons.

I just happened to catch the show this season where Big Mike was saved...that dude has an amazing voice. I've been watching each week since that one...I kind of want to see how far he goes.

I don't know all the names of the singers yet but the dude that doesn't always smile is pretty impressive. And the girl who sang last I missed in yesterday's show but in others sang fairly well on prior shows.
