And I said earlier in the thread I'd like to see that happen one day. But that cover art ain't a harbinger of it or anything

No, but at least they have a perfectly usable Rexy model that looks darn good.

Good for a cover, but I doubt it was rendered out as an actual animated model, you dig? It's just a static render.

Again, I'm not talking about the album itself. I'm just talking about only the song itself. The song by itself is nothing special. Really bland. Most people remember the video more than the song. As for the album it sold so much due to ALL the singles. Not just one.

Apologies if this has been discussed 1000 times already. My copy of Jurassic World starts glitching around 1 hour 2 minutes, for about 3 minutes. Anyone else experiencing similar issues. I’m using an Xbox One X to play it on.

Edit. Never mind. Wiped the disc on my shirt and no more glitching.

I'd not want them to re-do the CG models. The best 4K or upwards restoration would be - scan the original vistavision/still photo background plates in the highest resolution, use the 1993 CG models and place them at the exact same spots in the frame (micro-level alignment match necessary). Then, touch up the models a bit by enhancing the textural attributes in their skin, add dirt, etc. Apply the heatwave maps/add digital rain and voila!
I'd only want them to enhance the 1993 painted skin, not re-create it.
This is just like old paintings are restored; by washing and re-colouring them. So, it'll look as good as it did to audience members in 1993.

HELL NO to redone effects. Either that or do it like Paramount did with Star Trek...both original and updated effects options.

Like said before, rescan elements and place original effects over them.

That is what most people here would still call re-doing the CGI. As you are altering it, but within artistic intent!

I hope no one is advocating they literally scrap all the original work for some revisionist modern movements injected into the frame that might SEEM more fluid/professional to these computer graphics folks now (subjective!), but they actually aren't viscerally better than the talent that created those shots, imo.

Every character should actually be digitally replaced with Jeff Goldblum and all dinosaurs should be digitally covered in feathers and the score has to be replaced with temp music and the movie itself has to look more teal and orange than Mad Max Fury Road; it's the only way Jurassic Park can be good.

Back to reality, I've suggested that if effects are redone the disc should include the original few minutes of digital effects shots as a playback option via branching so absolutely nobody should be offended by it and everyone has what they want. And it isn't happening anyway.

Yep. The album was released Dec 1982 and the Thriller video didn't debut until a year later Dec 1983. By that time the album was already the biggest selling album of all time. Saying the song is a boring, bland, and generic song is just ridiculous.

Movies are a visual medium. That's why the Oscars and Grammy's are two separate things. Even the people who do the music and sound effects will say the sound is there to enhance the visuals.

Who do you think would enjoy movies more a blind person or a deaf person?

That would look absolutely horrible and would most likely be impossible to do anyway. Composites like this are generally more complicated than just a layer of CG that can easily be placed on top of new live footage. Having the new scan go through the same compositing workflow would be practically impossible due to differences in software/hardware, and because of the difference in resolution/fidelity you'd probably have to re-do almost every single aspect of it so it would be a total waste of time anyway.

Re-rendering the dinos would most likely also be a major headache and futile because of the same reasons. You increase the resolution and the low resolution of the textures becomes apparent (you can already see the horribly jagged low-res textures on the wrinkles of the first brachiosaur). You increase the texture resolution and the low polycount becomes noticeable. You increase the polycount and the quality of the shaders becomes a problem und so weiter... Before you know it you've redone everything anyway.

The proper way to do it would be:

See if they can't dig up some archived digital files of the finished VFX shots pre-film-out and put those in for the original version of the movie.

Re-do all of the VFX from scratch but re-use as much as possible of the general composition/animation/lighting (which they may be able to extract from the old scenes), essentially do a frame-by-frame recreation, and present that as the enhanced version.

Yes. This is definitely the way I would prefer them to go about it.
JP being probably the biggest landmark movie in CGI history it would be a shame to replace those iconic and film historically important shots with modern day CGI ones.

We've already seen from these pic provided by VickPS (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=2633), and those are photos of a magazine page no less) that the CGI shots do exist (or at least existed) in a substantially higher quality than the ones featured on the current UHD disc.

Now only they could dig up those archived master files and use those instead of the 1993 filmout I think it would do this movie proper justice on UHD and make those CGI shots look as good as they potentially can without going the #REVISIONISM path of creating new CGI.

That'd be good enough, if they can increase perceived resolution while mastering in 4K from the original 1.5K (or so I heard).

Sorry für asking once again, but did anyone have a look at the digital (download) versions yet? Are they from the new transfers?
I plan to buy a code for "The Lost World" only and it would be a major disappointment if it would only be the old transfer.

Been through three sets and scratches on all three. I knew better, as I’ve been through this with that damn Alien set, but I just couldn’t help myself. This kind of packaging is awful for discs. Hopefully they’ll get individual releases before long. What a disappointment.

Even in my steelbook set, sadly. Jurassic World has a minor scratch that’s about an inch in length but the discs is playable. Jurassic Park 3 has one that actually goes in a circle around the discs... well, partially, but it’s only seeablw under a light so who knows how playback is affected. I gave Universal a jingle and requested a replacement set. They said they can’t exchange individual discs so they’re sending a new set. I asked if it would be a steelbook set since it’s an exclusive... she said it probably would be but I’m not convinced. Just want a better copy of 3 than what I have... World, too, since I really like that movie.

As you said, hopefully individuals will come out eventually. I’ll replace whatever discs I need to that way.

The 4K format might be dead before it happens.
