GAH! You guys in the UK are so lucky on sales like this. I would gobble these up for £6 each:

Thief
Big Trouble in Little China
Runaway Train
Rollerball
Zardoz
Buckaroo Bonzai
Pit Stop
Kiss of Death
The Iron Curtain
Magus

Damn I'm envious of this. I'm in the US so there's nothing like this near me. But then again I'd probably go in there and buy every single one of them, so maybe it's a good thing.

Popped over to fopp in my lunch break and managed to get Shivers, bride of reanimator and runaway train with booklets. I had to search for the ones with booklets on some items. They appear to have a mix.

Has anyone seen the Spanish version of Pieces yet? Does it improve the film any or give it more of a giallo feel? On the fence about grabbing the limited edition set but knowing the Spanish edition is exclusive to this I don't wanna miss out.

I'm guessing those with the new design Amaray (i.e. the PlayStation variant) are more recent pressings that won't have booklets. Handy info if you're in a real hurry and want to get a booklet copy.

I gambled and ordered mine online, with three of them possibly having booklets still. Two of the titles were released last Autumn so more likely to have one, but I realised Solange is over a year old now so might not...will have to wait and see!

It doesn't change a lot of things, picture-wise. However, the soundtrack definitely is different from the other cut.

I wouldn't say it's better or worse, it's just... very different. It has some kind of an eerie aspect to it which, to be fair, seems sometimes quite out-of-context with the movie itself.

In any case, there only is 1 BD-50 in the LE set, with the Spanish version sharing the disc with the US cut, so the Spanish cut isn't exclusive to the LE.

It's however exclusive to the BD, meaning that the DVD coming with it only has the US cut. I suppose there simply wasn't enough space on the DVD to keep both cuts and the extras without hampering the technical quality.

Big Trouble in Little China, The 'burbs, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, Videodrome, and The Bloodstained Butterfly are on their way.

I was going for Rollerball, but I'll wait to see if anymore titles are added. I'd like Rabid and Shivers also.

What are people's thoughts on Rabid's presentation? I know it was a contentious release.

I thought Rabid was alright, a little green and dark but definitely watchable. The Scream Factory version looks a lot better, though. If you can import I would go for it instead. It's one of the VERY few SF discs that's better than its Arrow counterpart, and I think it might be the only one that's a lot better! Invasion of the Body Snatchers has a new transfer on the SF too, but the difference isn't nearly as drastic.

Thanks, cakefactory, unfortunately I'm region locked at the moment. The Scream Factory looks like the nicer release (and the cover is fantastic).

Saying all that the last time I saw Rabid was on a 14'' CRT years ago, so any BD will be a revelation.

They are, we're very organized in the UK, if you've seen Metropolis, Fopp's customers are like that, they're basically Blu-ray shopping automatons. Until the holidays, when it's a punch-up in every aisle.

I think I must be blind as I have difficulty seeing whether a title has a booklet or not through these "clear" cases. I've resorted to trying to weigh or shake them a bit.

Walkow did say most of them haven't had English-friendly releases, which would be correct (only Cops vs Thugs is the exception I believe). But then, it's possible Arrow made a deal for further titles.

Disappointing that an upgrade of the Street Fighter trilogy isn't on the cards first. I'm guessing since New Line distributed Sister Street Fighter in the US this means that the Street Fighter films are also no longer with New Line/Warner? If so there shouldn't be too many obstacles to a dual-territory release, and it will undoubtedly sell like hotcakes.
I'm pretty sure the 1964 film is WOLVES, PIGS, AND MEN while the 1978 film will probably be MESSAGE FROM SPACE.

New Line had SISTER STREET FIGHTER? If so, they lost the rights awhile ago as Ronin Entertainment released a high quality DVD boxset around 2008. I truly wish Arrow gets the rights to the STREET FIGHTER films as well, as that would kick so much ass.

Those two and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 are the only ones I can think of. TCM2 is even debatable because a lot of people seem to prefer the older master for its thicker blacks and more vivid colors, but I think the Shout looks much more natural.

If it is Message from Space, it will almost certainly be a UK-only release, given Shout released it last year.

I guess New Line maybe didn't have Sister Street Fighter then. Maybe the circumstances with Street Figher aren't the same.

I picked up 4 from fopp: Donnie Darko, Rollerball, Rabid, Waking Life. Will no doubt go back for more but I was in a rush.

Waking Life the only one without booklet, little bit surprising as it's not too old. Not too bothered, as it's not a particular favourite but I generally like Linklater and wanted to give it a second chance.

Donnie Darko semi-deluxe version is a crazy bargain at this price.
