Funny how people don't like to remember that Ellen Ripley was the original female action hero. She didn't also have to dress up in skimpy clothing and titillate male audiences. She was just a pure bad ass. There's also been a great number of other examples too over the years.

Glad to see this is getting good reviews. Even if it's not great, I'm glad to see it's a movie that the audience is not too divided on and has some level of agreeable appreciation for. Hopefully it'll stay that way, so that all we have to worry about debating are minor criticisms.
Looking forward to Wonder Woman. |

I think Leia beat Ripley to the screen by a couple of years, but let's keep this thread strictly WW.
Good to see a DC movie getting positive reviews and it'll be interesting to see whether that equates to big box office or whether audiences are thinking "another DC film? no thanks" I'm sure it'll do just fine, but it should do so on its merits as a film, not because it's overflowing with girl power. |

Maybe it's just for obvious reasons, but I've heard some comparing Wonder Woman to Superman: The Movie, Batman Begins, and Captain America: The First Avenger. That's great then! I don't know why some people seem to have problems with origin movies, but I love origins. The origin is the heart of a character. IMO, Superman: The Movie is a classic masterpiece, Batman Begins is a better Batman film than the highly lauded The Dark Knight, and Captain America: The First Avenger is an essential and very under-appreciated chapter in the MCU. If WW hits all the right notes that those films have with me, then it will join my list of personal favorites.

Here's the short version: Wonder Woman is good. It's, by default, the best live-action DC Comics movie since The Dark Knight. It is, by default, the best female-centric comic book superhero movie ever made and is on a different plane from Elektra, Catwoman and Supergirl (and Barb Wire and Tank Girl and Red Sonja). To those who have been waiting for this picture their entire lives, who have yearned to see Wonder Woman on the silver screen in her own movie hacking, slashing and lassoing for justice and compassion, you can take a breath and relax. Even though the finished product has some serious issues, and the final product doesn't quite measure up to that dynamite 2009 animated movie, Gal Gadot makes a spectacular superheroine. Come what may, the much-discussed DC Films has given us a dynamic and definitive big-screen variation of Wonder Woman. |

Yeah, no way it's touching the Top 2. We might not see anything DCEU touch the Top 2 until Matt Reeves' The Batman film comes out.

I was thinking worst case scenario would be 3rd place on the list, thinking word of mouth and great reviews would send it to the top. The Mummy does come come out next week and then Transformers on the 21st, so maybe not.
