Just seems like the constant rubbing of the package (and not to mention fingerprints - can you get these out without putting fingerprints all over them?) would lead to problems as people have said UHD discs seem to be more sensitive than BDs. |

The Mummy collection has top loading discs and they are loose in the sleeves, so if you lay it down flat the discs want to come out. The JP collection is a book style in a box and the discs are in there tighter so they are fine.
Don't like the Mummy packaging but I store the box upright anyway so no big deal. I had some fine scratches on the discs but 1 and 2 played fine, never tried the 3rd ![]() My old Star Wars and Raiders blurays have held up fine with the sleeve style packaging but yeah would prefer standard trays. LOTR extended packaging is the shiz |

This is why I made my entire BD collection accessible over my network in lossless quality of course. Now, my wife can't use the same excuse.

Just finished watching JP3....
![]() ![]() ![]() I must be in a vast minority but I actually like this movie a lot. I can barely tell any difference between the 4k and existing bd. How can this be for a movie made in 2001? Wonder if they would consider a replacement program with an actual 4k disc. |

I keep watching Jurassic World 4K and can't wrap my mind around something, looked through a bunch of pages, didn't see anyone reference it.
Everyone says how very good this one is, and there are moments that our stunning, but what's bugging me is every time Dallas is front and center on screen there is a very slight screen door effect in her cheeks, and maybe slightly Chris here and there, almost like grain in those spots, it's not my first 4K, been messing around with my LG Oled E6, Oppo 203, can't seem to change it much, inside HDR STD seems to work best with some tweeking..... Just so I wasn't losing my mind jumped into some quality 4K's, Pacific, Guardians 2, faces and everthing stunning/spectacular, so don't think anything is crazy wrong with my setup.... Anyone else getting this? |

Agreed, don't mind the grainy texture, gives it an old time feel, it's just that the dark parts it stands out more, ok if that's the way it is, just making sure it's normal.

Finally got around to watching all of these and as to the movies, I enjoyed them all. Gymnastics and Raptor McDreamy aren't nearly as bad as I remember. As for the quality:
The first movie; color and HDR are great 95% of the time. Grain management too strong. Icky. Second; pretty similar quality color and HDR as the first with many more soft VFX shots but better grain overall. Third; when the main menu came up it was sharp and bright and colorful and I was puzzled about the poor consensus but then the movie started and immediately it became clear. Jurassic World; overall great. The question I now have to ask myself; am I really going to go through the effort of fitting all this mild disappointment into some Steelbooks? I was so preoccupied as to whether or not I could, I didn’t stop to ask if I should... ![]() |

My thoughts after working my way through the set...
Jurassic Park: Aside from the colors which resemble the highly incorrect old master used for DVD/Blu-ray, I thought the UHD looked pretty good for the most part outside of opticals and a few shots here and there which looked extremely processed. An improvement over the 2D Blu-ray but far from an ideal presentation. For future viewing, I'll be sticking with the 3D Blu-ray which is a much better experience and it has a color scheme that are more akin to the original. The Lost World: Jurassic Park: An improvement over the Blu-ray (which was no slouch, especially considering who released it) in clarity, definition and colors, although like Jurassic Park, it has been given a neutral color scheme. More highlight information is visible although considering the DP was Janusz Kaminski, I'm not sure that this is something I want considering the way he played with light and the way his films were processed resulted in intentional loss of highlight information. Jurassic Park III: Also an improvement over the artificially sharpened Blu-ray and again colors are better, although I still highly doubt their accuracy. The film itself is hot garbage so I doubt I'll be watching it on any format in the near future. Jurassic World: The best looking out of the four films, although in the future I'll be sticking with the 3D Blu-ray. One thing I noticed was that the blue and yellow hues that I recall seeing in the theater and the Blu-ray release had been removed, like the UHD had been white balanced to produce a more natural image. I've seen speculation that Universal just repurposed the old DVD masters for the UHDs, but I do believe that these are actually new(ish) scans, even The Lost World. I think the people color timing the UHDs just used the flawed DVD masters as a color reference and that's why they look so similar. |

Just checked eBay myself and got an open copy for $34 shipped. That’s more in line with what I wanted to pay since this set seems to be a mixed bag. It still has all the digital codes so I’ll be able to sell those and get my cost for this set down pretty low.

I ordered it from amazon.ca last week for $50 CAD which is $12.50 a pop, not bad for a 4k set IMHO.
