Watched this last night finally. Errors were noticeable on my 42" plasma. Seemed the worse in foggy alley way scenes. Entire sections of the screen appear to jump from one frame to another in several shots. To be fair, I was looking for them, and I'm a stickler for this sort of thing. If it doesn't bother you, great, but it's certainly not nothing. If they were going to fix the issue and offer a replacement, I would jump on it. Since that's unlikely, looks I'll be importing the international version for the movie and keeping the TT for extras.

The upcoming Fright Night/Christine Japanese release looks enticing.

You're the first person I've seen who says it's that rampant and noticeable. The people who originally pointed it out said it was just a few scenes, and only a handful of frames within them.

Serious Question - what sort of QC does TT do?

I have noticed quite a few errors on their BD's that IMO are not normally found on other labels to the same degree.

Long time lurker here, first time poster lol. Has anyone heard of a possible release or re-release of Part 2? I continually hope for a copy of the DVD to be a decent price, but i'm hoping for a possible re-release maybe.

It appears to be mired in copyright nonsense, and apparently nobody can be bothered to sort it out. The DVD is actually a bootleg - it's never been officially released.

It's infuriating, frankly, particularly when you look at some of the garbage that's gotten the full Blu treatment already.

Really? That's crazy lol. I had no idea it was a bootleg. I've seen it at work, a long long time ago, crazy that we would take it. Also, agreed on the crap that has been put out on DVD/BLU, I work at moviestop, and our Sci-Fi/Horror section is filled with complete crap, and while I would hesitate to call FN2 great, it's at least worthy of a dvd release.

Yes. As far as I can recall, Scream Factory does have an interest in releasing it, but no one is sure exactly who currently owns the rights. There was a bootleg Blu-ray floating around too, but it appears the last one in existence resides on Amazon for just under $500. This has been broadcast on cable very sporadically (around Halloween) in recent years - I've seen it myself - and is no doubt the source of the aforementioned discs.

Such a shame. Hopefully they can, as I have no intention of paying $60 [cheapest you'll see it on Ebay!] or more for a bootleg / dvd of a film. Oh well, I have my Bluray & signed DVD copy of the film. I met the cast last year, such wonderful people.

The old full-screen DVD of FN2 is from Live/Artisan. Just the widescreen ones are bootlegs.

It's rampant just in that alleyway scene at the very beginning of Chapter 13. The first shot of that scene, where Evil is walking toward camera, just before Jerry reveals himself, has 3 or 4 frames that are a total mess. Watching it in motion, it appears that several small sections of the fog freeze and skip to the next frame every couple seconds or so. I've since freeze framed it on powerdvd on my pc, and it is indeed macro-blocking in those few frames. It happens a few more times in that scene, mostly in areas of the screen that are rendering the fog. Very strange. Those are really the only places I've noticed it besides the pants pan, but, again, I was looking hard for that one.

I do understand how these issue could be invisible to some folks--they come and go very quickly--but they are there, and they simply shouldn't be.

They also state they will have an option to send in your existing copy (sleeve). Sounds like the Fright Night store will open by mid-March at the earliest.

I was looking at their store and they sure do rip of International customers. For example I was looking at The Beast Within.

For US customers it is $34.99 + shipping (about $5)

For International customers it is $49.99 + shipping (about $10 + import fee)

What is with the extra $15 charge? Only thing that should be different is shipping.

I would love to get this as Fright Night is my all time favorite movie. But they said there was a signing fee per person and there's five signatures on it, so I'm fairly certain I won't be able to afford it.

Except that, as it says, all international orders will be handled through eBay. So the extra is presumably eBay fee's to complete the transaction and handle the trouble of shipping international.

I'm sure Tom would call it "finally getting paid for what I did 30 years ago", and I can't blame him one bit.

I will sell my copy for $250 right now! I went through a lot to get ahold of it, but could let it go for that price. The trouble with bootlegs is you never know when the print run is going up from someone making another copy, which is why I feel $250 is fair at this point...
...and mods, I'm joking! My copy is NOT for sale, or trade. In fact, it doesn't even exist outside of my home. Move along, nothing more to see here.

There isn't a label that is immune from these sorts of things.

Twilight Time isn't even close to standing out as bad IMO. People consistently *****ing @ Scream Factory for this exact thing. Even see people complain about Criterion for whatever compression algorithm they use, and I have no idea there. I can't recall any Criterion jumping out to me as having poor compression, and certainly not as a "systemic" problem. They had their issues in DVD for sure, so I think some people work too hard to try and sully their reputation.

Among the major studios we have Warner bros with years and years of bitstarved and poorly encoded discs. We have Universal with their history of poor discs.

I've seen far more blatant flaws from Raro Video and Kino - but even a major classic like The Graduate (MGM) comes to mind. I recall there are two really bad digital flaws in that blu that MUST be digital flaws (it was like a pixelated jagged green line that crossed the screen for a few frames, no way that is from the film itself).

I haven't watched this new edition yet to see if these issues jump out at me, but I'd like to know what other discs Twilight Time has put out that have "issues" relative to other releases?
