To them, this will be their first Halloween film, which I think was the intention of the studio, to create an illusion for younger Millennials and Gen Z that this is certainly aiming to attract above all others. They don't want to title a film with a numeral, because that makes it seem dated. You also risk something similar with a subtitle that could confuse it with an earlier series like the RZ films.
You need to have a word with the manager. Never heard of Halloween? Get them sacked and make them do a walk of shame out of the building, naked with horror fans throwing rotting fruit at them. Just my opinion like!

Seems weird just calling this Halloween if it's a sequel to Halloween. It's like The Thing prequel having the same title to it's predecessor. So you watch Halloween and then you watch this new direct sequel, also just called Halloween.

Yeah I think pretty much everyone knows Halloween. Even the teenagers I work with want to see “ The new Micheal Myers movie” he’s an icon.

Expect it to get a "retitling" in some form at some point, whether officially or just because fans keep calling it something. Many call Zombie's films (a variation of) "remake" and "H2," for instance.

Saw it last Friday at a screening. Went with a hard core Halloween/John Carpenter fan who loved it.

I just liked the original movie and I'm not that into the horror/slasher genre but I believe if you're a fan of the original you'll like the film. Has a very retro look to it.

This Halloween is suppose to be a direct sequel to the original film, well that's what my friend told me.

When I saw Predator this weekend I saw the trailer and it gives away waaaay to much.

Halloween II is a perfectly serviceable slasher flick. Sure the first movie casts a very long shadow, but for a Teenagers Getting Killed flick, it's not bad. Halloween VI - regardless if it's the theatrical cut or the long lost directors cut - is terrible.

It always amazes me, the sharp drop off in quality after III. The series plunges off the bottom of the chart for entries IV through Zombieween.

I think Halloween 2 stands up very well among slasher movies of the 1980-1984 period, at least. I never enjoyed anything after 3.

It does, except I think The Burning blows H2 away overall.

I love 4 and 5. Because before Netflix streaming was a thing, AMC Monsterfest used to be a month long and they'd play I,II,III,IV,V on several times during the month of October. Just sort of fell in love with them because its' all I could watch for horror stuff as a kid/teen.

For those that don't have Facebook or Spotify. An alternate link for listening to the full version of Carpenter's "The Shape Returns" track. Obviously, don't listen if you feel hearing this ahead of seeing the movie is "spoiler-ish."

I LOVE IT!!!

Funny. I don't mind watching the trailers but I feel different about these score snippets they've released. I don't want to hear any of the music until I'm in the theater watching the movie.

Me too. I’m also afraid the track listing might contain spoilers.
