Loomis recycles his entire dialog from the first film. The deserted and dark hospital is beyong stupid, not believable at all! And since when does a car not start just because it's got flat tires?! Yeah, this movie is a poor attempt to mimic the brilliant original.
the worst part, and that's saying something in this mountain of garbage, is towards the end when he gets into the hospital. and how does he get in? he walks into a door and the window just explodes. that's right. the door offers as much much resistance as a ribbon at the end of the marathon.

and kudos to the actors, they stay in character and act like that is totally normal and not one of the stupidest things ever in a movie. it's a moment that's so bad that I can't even believe it survived to the movie. and this is in a movie where he jumps out like a car at an actress in a fully lit room. not even hiding by anything.

and for a movie that adds the stupid idea that that they are sisters... why do we have that killing at beginning? other than Michael kills people to get to his sister? but that girl is not in the way of his sister?

and I didn't even mention when they try to replay the ending from the original and just make it worse by remove the original score. you know... the thing that makes the whole movie work.

ugh... this really might be the worst sequel of the original eight movies.

When a series has an entry like Halloween Resurrection, Halloween 2 could never be considered the worst sequel.

They’re brother and sister, not sisters. If you thought they were sisters, then I can understand why you thought that was a stupid idea.

And 5 and 6.
Halloween 2 was awesome though, 4 is my favorite of the sequels though.

They talked about this in the audio commentary. I can't remember which one of them said it, but they said they had visited a hospital prior to filming and were surprised at how the place looked very empty during the overnight shift.

It's going to be hard to disregard the events of HII and accept this film as being the "new" Halloween II. I love what I saw in the trailers and I think it has the potential to be one of the best sequels, but part of me still wishes HII was canon.
There's no one official canon. There's 3 separate timelines.

Yes, it certainly is. I pointed this out in great detail and it was completely ignored. People have already made their minds up that this is going to be amazing and the best movie after the original and don't want to hear or read anything that goes against that in any way.

It's riding the coattails of sequels it's ignoring.

It is silly but they already went the realistic route in H20 with Laurie suffering PTSD and having a serious drinking problem so they're going in a completely different direction and having her basically playing Sarah Connor which while ridiculous and unrealistic should be fun and entertaining. She was just a random victim with no connection to Michael so why would she think he'd come back for her? You just gotta put logic aside and go with it.

I'd take anything he says with a grain of salt. I doubt his involvement with this is anything more than contributing to the score. He had his chance in 1981 and couldn't think of anything more than to add more gore to keep up with other slashers of the time. He turned down every other opportunity over the years to be involved with the franchise. He only ever cared about the paycheck after the first movie and I doubt his interest in this new movie has changed from that. Sick of the worship Carpenter gets when he stopped giving a shit about making anything of quality for close to 30 years now. He had a great run in the 80s but he clearly lost that creative spark a very long time ago.

Seems like a cheap attempt to get people invested in the franchise again. Majority of the comments in here have been pointing out the references of the previous films.
Yep. This is the nostalgia era of movies. The trailers are succeeding in getting everyone nostalgic about the Halloween 1, 2 & 4. We'll probably even get some nods to 5, 6 and H20 in the 3rd trailer. "Ignore all those sequels....actually....remember all these great moments from the sequels?"

Regardless, I'm still looking very forward to it. I just have realistic expectations unlike a lot of folks who have been so starved of good Halloween movies that they're trying so hard to convince themselves this will be the best movie since the original. Nothing wrong with being optimistic but so many people are only setting themselves up for disappointment with such high expectations.

As far as mimicking the original, remember that JC and Debra Hill did NOT want to even make a sequel, but the studio paid them millions to make it work, which is why Rosenthal directed some of it (I know JC came in and directed parts) along with composing the score, co-writing it, and producing it.
Actually, Carpenter was sued into making it. He breached verbal contract with Irwin Yablans by making The Fog (a project he’d agreed to do for Yablans and Compass before discussing Halloween II) for Bob Rehme at AVCO Embassy Pictures. To settle the case, Yablans essentially forced Carpenter to write and produce Halloween II in return for allowing AVCO (who were also sued) to release their film.

My dad had an experience like that when my mom was in the hospital pregnant with me. (Coincidentally, the same year the first film came out, 1978.) He stayed with her late into the night and then when he left he said the hospital looked like it was completely deserted. He didn't see or hear any patients or staff, anybody at all, from my mom's room all the way downstairs to the entrance. Lights in certain areas were even turned off or dimmed. He said it was so eerie and when he saw Halloween II a few years later, it instantly reminded him of that night.

Halloween 1978, Zombie's H2, Halloween 4 and 5 is the only ones I truly like. 'Curse' has it's moments. 3 is fun.

The rest sucks.

Not sure what's more horrifying. Michael Myers, or laying on a public toilet floor. Probably the floor.

Once saw a guy licking a public toilet floor on a night out. It went in for about 2 minutes. Absolutely disgusting.

I wouldn't usually rank Zombie's flicks or H3 against the others, but when in Rome...

1. Halloween '78
2. Season of the Witch
3. Zombie H2
4. H2 '81
5. H4
6. H5
7. Zombie H1
8. Curse
9. H20
10. Resurrection
