Sincere apologies for the misinformation. I play my 3D blu's on my PS3 and there is no option to switch between 3d and 2d on the Shrek discs. It forces it into 3d.
But you are quite right if you put the disc in a 2d player it plays in 2d.

OK I think this has been covered, but just want to double check:

The Shrek 3D 4 movie set will play in *any* 2D blu-ray and 2D television setup?

I bought the 4 disc 2D set last year, then got the 4 disc 3D set this year.

I'd been keeping the 2D set around assuming that that the 3D discs (like some other 3D exclusives) would not play on a 2D only setup.

I know 3D movies can be played as 2D using settings on the player or the TV, but I think there's a quality loss, and I'm not sure that always works on 2D only equipment...

Also, is there any difference in the content/extras/etc?

The set will playback on 2D setups.

If you have a 3D setup it's kind of hard to force it to playback in 2D, but you can one way or another (usually you have to turn 3D off some place in the system.)

Edit- The 3D set has NO EXTRAS so if there are extras on the 2D set they are not on the 3D Set.

I submitted my online form 2 weeks ago and it was dispatched this week.

thats a relief. i was expecting samsung to say sorry but the promotion has finished. i only paid £9.99 for the set off of amazon so if i get the fourth disc thats fantastic. what product did you use for the serial number or did you get the discs with the glasses pack?

I bought mine from amazon seller too. The promotion has officially finished but I have just bought a Samsung 3D TV so thought I would just try the serial number from that with the redemption code from the blu ray pack. It worked. I had a despatch email from TriStar Studios this morning

i have just recently brought a samsung 3d tv as well and thats what i used for the serial. thats great that it went through now its just a waiting game to see when i get it. on your despatch email does it give a rough estimate when you will receive it?

Just got my disc today so thats not even a week. Labelled up nicely as disc 4 of the set.

I think it was just over a week from submitting my code to getting despatch email. Then 3 days for delivery. Pretty damn good

I have just checked on the rebate site and it says it has been processed and is being prepared to be sent. Wow 4 3d discs for 9.99 (13.49 with postage) fantastic.
