Scream doesn't do sex/nudity. Well, the Sidney losing her virginity was so tame so it doesn't really count as a sex scene.

I still think Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard should team up for this.

It still doesn't hurt to talk about it. I never thought I would have been this interested in a franchise like this, but all it took was the original, and a friend who recommended seeing it to a group of us, when it was first released. I've been hooked ever since. It still has a strong foundation and now has become a true Hollywood franchise with two generations of fans and followers, and that is something special. Maybe other than the 'Die Hard,' 'Fast & Furious,' Indiana Jones, Lethal Weapon, Mission: Impossible, and 'Pirates' franchises, there currently is no others out there quite like 'Scream,' that have continued a successful series without having to "Reboot" the franchise or produce another "Sequel" without having the original cast.

I wouldn't mind if another director helmed a sequel instead of Wes Craven, it could spice things up, but this is practically his baby franchise so, I don't see that happening anytime soon. Maybe even under the microscope as the Executive Producer, that may keep things in order. Maybe something along the lines of what Spielberg has done for Jurassic Park or what Christopher Nolan is doing for the Man of Steel. Many may not agree but at least Craven would be onboard in some form or fashion. I'd hate to see what other studio's could or will do, which could spark or ruin the continuation of these films, and I hope that it could remain popular and significant for at least another sequel.

Harvey Weinstein took part in a Masterclass at the still underway Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland, where his company is screening a plethora of films. Indiewire writes from the festival with quotes from Weinstein, who reportedly is still pushing to get Scream 5 made. What’s holding it up? Brother Bob, that’s who…

Weinstein said that he’s urging his brother Bob, who heads Dimension Films, to make Scream 5 a reality. “Everyone lived in Scream 4,” he said, explaining that all the characters could return for another run-in with Ghostface.

But the big news is that Harvey hopes to wrap things up with a fifth Scream. “I’m begging him to do the movie and just end it,” he reveals. “We’ve milked that cow.”

Speaking of milking the cow, right now Wes Craven is developing a “Scream” television series for MTV. Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin are currently penning the pilot presentation.

What I don’t think the Weinstein brothers understand – or maybe they do – is that fans truly are clamoring for another Scream. Bloody Disgusting receives inquiries for updates on a weekly basis from fans desperate for any nugget of news. Well, here it is, Harvey is ready to end the franchise once and for all.

With a reported budget of $40M, the fourth film in the franchise took in close to $100M worldwide at the box office.

Nice to see they are still pushing to get this made. A final Scream movie would awesome if they truly set it up as the end game and give us closure.

Agreed. Glad we're getting an update on it. I hope it comes to fruition.

I can't believe they're talking about milking the cow when they gave us the terrible Scary Movie 5 earlier this year. We deserve 3 more Scream films for that mess.

I recently re-watched the first Scream and it truly is brilliant and amazing and so well written. They should make part 5 two hours long and have actual character development and not just have death scenes every 10 minutes.

I'm still shocked Harvey Weinstein isn't asking "would you like fries with that" at a drive thru window by now.

I used to think in the 90s, why do so many of these Dimension movies suck... Halloween 6, Children of the Corn Infinity, etc., etc.

Oh well. I guess I'd see a Scream 5.

I wouldn't mind Dewey and Gale being the focus of it (with a kid, possibly?) instead of Sidney being targeted by 9 serial killers total.

I think they are going down the TV path with this series in lieu of any further films.

Last I heard it was going to air on MTV next year. They got some writers from Criminal Minds working on the project.

So it looks like our pal Ghostface will be joining Norman Bates, Hannibal Lecter, Ichabod Crane, John Constantine and John Rambo. No one makes movies anymore, it's all about the small screen these days it seems...

Did you read the above article that was posted? They're trying to do one more film, regardless of the MTV series.

Glad to see the TV show hasn't killed any chance of a 5th Scream movie. Having a movie wrap up the original characters stories and just having the TV show sounds like a good path to go down.

Must admit that I didn't, that will teach me to speed read.

Lesson learned.

That said, a Scream 5 would be awesome.

If the TV shows lasts multiple seasons, they should get a new cast/murder mystery each season.
