This is why I can't wait to get the BD tomorrow, since my memory is fuzzy on what happened last season.

I would think they would keep to the books when it concerns him since it would mean less CGI work, since he'd just be a cloaked figure.

The biggest change I'm trying to figure out from last year is how they do the Purple Wedding/Trial with Jamie already back in the city. His actions in the book don't make much sense if he witnesses everything.

Yeah that will interesting to see what changes. I remember seeing him show up at the end of the season, thinking wait you're not supposed to be here yet.

I presume (based on the previews) that they wanted Jaime to take the place of Kevan, counseling Tyrion during his trial. It's a good way to show the television audience the closeness of their relationship.

An excellent observation.

It is possible that the first appearance by LSH might actually be her Feast for Crows scene with Brienne, and not with the Frey's as in the ending of Storm of Swords. This would avoid a convoluted, "Previously on..." segment to reintroduce the Frey's.

I could definitely see that as a possibility. That would be a big reveal moment to have her first appear after Brienne is captured, but personally, I would love to see a scene with them dragging her out of the water and Beric Dondarrion sacrificing his own life to resurrect her.

I thought that might be how they ended last season. But they need to do that.

It can end the season or it can end an episode, but:

Show Beric et al walking along the creek when they look to the side and freeze. They walk over and surround something. Beric looks over at Thoros who just nods his head. The camera zooms in past everyone to show Cat's mangled body and then her eyes open. And the credits roll.

I think that sounds kind of awesome, but...and this is a terrible gif, but the last part reminds me a little too much of this:

Uh oh Red Wedding commentary on the blu ray does not indicate that Lady Stoneheart will appear. I really hope they are just hiding it
But damn i will be pissed if they leave her out. Will they rewrite a whole new story for Brienne and Jaime. I really dont like this at all

Why would it? Do they usually give spoilers for future seasons on the commentaries?

My thoughts exactly. I would expect that they don't assume that the people buying the discs and listening to the commentaries are all people who've read the books.

Now, if they'd specifically said that LS wasn't going to appear, then I'd worry. But as the saying goes, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

I have to ask. For the fans of the series that have read the books. How close is the series to the books themselves? Have you all been satisfied with the changes they've made?

Changes have largely been minor. Or at least none that have truly affected the stories.

Some of the details get changed, and some events are moved around in the timeline a bit. And, as expected, some minor characters are getting dropped, and some others are being added.

But overall, they're sticking faithfully to the story.

It's been pretty faithful to the books. My biggest problems with the show is the characterization of Stannis and Loras. Also wasn't to fond of them betraying Ramsay as a ladies man.

I don't like how they've made Stannis into Melisandre's b**ch. In the books, he doubts a lot of what she says, laughs at her, and even threatens to kill her once. In the show, he pretty much does what she says without question, mostly ignoring Davos. They've also taken away a lot of his sarcasm. It almost seems like the only thing the producers read about him was the Lannister's and Renly's opinions.
Otherwise, the changes haven't been too bad. I really liked Arya's interactions with Tywin is S2. I think the show has been successful in adapting the books to the medium of television, which can be tough since a lot of the character development happens in thoughts within the novels.

Stannis definitely suffers the most in the TV adaption imo. What you said is dead on. They seem to have taken away all of his noble qualities and made him simply a tool Melisandre uses.Which is a real shame because I think the actor playing him is great.

It took three kings to die for Stannis to let Melisandre burn Edric (a kid he didn't even like, since his conception is what supposedly left Selyse without sons). And even then, he told Melisandre "Are you sure this will work? If it doesn't, you'll pay with your life." In the show, he decides to sacrifice Gendry after only Robb dies. His portrayal in season 3 was butchered. I love Stephen Dillane's performance, but I feel that the writing has pretty much missed a lot of the good qualities of his character. Season 2 was better, but still pretty meh.

Yeah I feel like it has a lot to do with the fact that the writers have openly said that Stannis is their least favorite character. It's just a shame they have let their personal feelings influence the way they write the character.

The showrunners have joked before that the RW was the "last" time they'd be working with some of those actors. Don't worry I'd say it's pretty much a given that LS is going to be in the show. You worry about this too much.
