Comes in expecting news. Finds people debating about the 80's. Sits down.

There's literally only one problem with living in the 80's... Porn. I don't wanna have to go to the store to steal a nude mag.

As for Friday the 13th. I think setting it in the 80's would be A LOT of fun!! Even if just for the soundtrack... I have visions of a half-naked hottie running through the woods with 'A Flock of Segulls' playing in the background...

"... And I ran, I ran so far away. I just ran, I ran all night and day. I couldn't get away..." BOOM!!! Machete to the face!

Ugh, now if they don't do that I'm gonna be upset.

Interesting that their going to put Mrs. Voorhees in it. Like that its going to be set in the 80's.

I still would rather have the bad of then than the bad of today. However, if time travel is ever invented and I do make it back to the 80s, I'll come back to now and let you know if I regret that statement. LOL

I prefer the term overly interested

I was born in 1972, so I came of age during the 1980s. Yes, there were some good things, but then again, there were some bad things.

Bad things about the 1980s...

- Dealing with cigarette smoke in public places (restaurants, etc.)
- Inability to purchase movies, except on expensive video discs (Movie rentals were a thing back then, but even VHS tapes had a retail price of close to $100 up until the tail end of the decade.)
- Godawful nutrition advice that resulted in a tidal wave of obesity in this country in subsequent decades. Everything that we were told by the "experts" back in the 1980s was wrong. We were told to avoid red meat, to avoid egg yolks, to eat margarine instead of butter, to eat primarily whole grains and rice cakes, to avoid saturated fats, etc., and all of this advice just made things worse.
- No seedless watermelon
- No widescreen televisions
- Long-distance telephone charges
- No Google Maps
- The hassle of taking a camera to a film developing shop
- Dealing with the hassles of cashing checks, depositing checks, and getting cash before the days of ATMs, direct deposit paychecks, etc.
- Having to cut up salad greens and vegetables instead of simply buying pre-cut stuff at the grocery store
- Inability to check the weather predictions from Weather Channel phone apps at any given time of the day
- Typing term papers with typewriters

Great things about the 1980s...

- Free time on summer days and on weekends, before parents and schools decided that every split second of a kid's life had to be structured
- Glorious solitude, before people felt the need to be available 24/7 via cell phones, computers, and such
- Beautiful women who did not cover their bodies with hideous ink
- Awesome awesome awesome music
- Actual honest-to-goodness music videos on MTV
- More actual face-to-face interaction for those times when we actually wanted to be with other people
- Real practical special effects in movies, instead of computer-generated images
- Better Friday the 13th movies. In fact, the horror movies made between 1980 and 1985 were better than all of the horror movies in subsequent decades put together
- Music and movies had a "mystique" to them before the days when we could instantly go online and find out everything about song lyrics, about movie endings, etc.
- Decent journalism (decent television journalism, in particular)
- Watching football games in the open air, instead of watching them inside a giant indoor sports dome
- The joy of riding bicycles, skateboarding, etc. before the days of liability-happy lawyers, and such
- Being able to carry a Swiss Army Knife in my wallet for minor tasks (opening packages, etc.) without being considered a horrible evil terrorist dude

So this film will be more similar to Paramount's Friday the 13th films than New Line / Warner's?

Ummm Friday the 13th Part 3 was screened in Polarized 3D most theatres that showed it in 3D. You might be surprised some of the best 3D in the history of 3D movies comes pre RealD, Dolby3D and X-PAND.
Friday the 13th screened in polarized 3D looks great.

Love your list, though to be fair a lot of your 'Bad Things about the 80's' only seem bad in comparison to today. Having to wait for film to be developed might seem like a hassle now, but there wasn't an alternative then. (I also find our current reliance on Google Maps to be a bit disturbing if I'm honest. I'm not sure a large majority of the population could even find their way somewhere using an actual map. Heaven forbid we actually lose technology. We'd all be doomed due to over-dependence... )

And plus a million to this: Glorious solitude, before people felt the need to be available 24/7 via cell phones, computers, and such

(Can you tell I have a distrust of technology? )

I got ya.

I actually left several such things off of my list (the world wide web, social media, iPhones, etc.) in general, since the jury is still out on whether or not these things have actually made our lives better. They're more convenient, for sure, but they're also quite time-consuming in a voluntary sense.

And all overseen by big brother. Like back then you could go to the grocery store and get the discounts without being a card carrying member. Like most I have a cell but there's a lot to be said about not being in contact 24/7. We use to go camping a lot back then, and then you were completly off the grid. Now when we go theres tablets out cell one group watching tv in their tent. Don't know but i go camping to get away from all that not bring it with me. Its nice to unplug from the system some.

Can't wait for the new film. I love the original series and the remake was pretty good too.
I also would love if they make a tv series, this would be very cool.

There’s still no real news regarding the next installment of Friday the 13th.

And as of this moment, there still isn’t even a script.

“Just working on the script still,” Platinum Dunes producer Andrew Form tells Collider. “Hoping to make that movie this year and Brad [Form], I’m gonna confirm that Jason is in the movie.”

So, for those who are still e-mailing and tweeting me daily – YES, Jason Voorhees is in the movie, and no, there’s been no solid progress. This also doesn’t mean it’s time to panic. What it means is that it’s time to chill out and let the process take its course. At least Paramount is actually actively developing this. We should be asking New Line Cinema what the heck is up with Freddy Krueger and his A Nightmare On Elm Street…

David Bruckner (V/H/S, The Signal)is still at the helm of the new F13 with hopes of shooting the movie for its November 13, 2015 date. This is doable if they begin filming this summer.

They underestimate the franchise. The New Blood had a turnaround time of 5 months (from pre-pro to shooting to cinemas).

It gets theatrically released in just 10 months time and they still haven't finished the script?? Last film came out over five years ago so that's pretty inexcusable behaviour. It's not as if there was a lack of time to prepare.
