Are you sure about that? It was never released on VHS or seen much on TV at at all in the US, and I don't think Paramount has renewed their rights if it hasn't been streaming recently. Alliance Atlantis (who owned the output of Canadian producer Cineplex Odeon) had put out a DVD using a VHS sourced P&S transfer (mind you), and was recently streaming on iTunes Canada in HD and possibly OAR. eOne was listed as a copyright holder for the Canadian listings (they may have had US rights from Paramount), and eOne had sold the Alliance catalog to Filmrise (who licences out to Vinegar Syndrome and MVD).

I *thought* it was Paramount. A repertory screening a few years back had a print provided by Paramount, but they might just be theatrical rights holders

[[/B]QUOTE=jah13;18587334]Love Altman, though your mileage will vary with such a prolific and diverse oeuvre as his. Would have to see what’s left and where those films reside to start with.[/QUOTE]

H*E*A*L*T*H would be incredible, but Fox couldn’t even release it due to longstanding music issues. Jazz ‘34 is in the same boat

I’d love to have official copies of his incredible TV films like The Laundromat (which aired on HBO and later A&E, which used to be an AMAZING channel for contemporary theatre/opera) and Rattlesnake in a Cooler

Maybe his protege Alan Rudolph’s film Choose Me is possible? I love Genevieve Bujold. Beautiful film.

DUDDY was released on VHS and Beta by Paramount in the U.S.

I'm a huge fan of Altman's A PERFECT COUPLE, but back to the Fox/Disney conundrum.

Tried for CHOOSE ME. My understanding was that it was already spoken for by another label, alas.

Would love to see FCE get QUINTET or A WEDDING but both are in Disney/Fox purgatory. Both are obviously considered lesser Altman (especially Quintet), but IMO both are better than anything he directed in the 80s. I bought Quintet on Amazon Prime, I've watched it several times and I like it better every time.
Of course, this is back to the "your mileage will vary" comment. And, how many people would actually buy what is one of his most neglected and maligned films? I'm one.

Heh, I think we all have our different favorite Altman periods because I consider the ‘80s his most interesting era as a filmmaker.

I'm not sure exactly what are considered the parameters of "maverick" but I'll throw these ideas out there...

If we're talking MGM, I'd kill to have THE HANGING GARDEN. It's a pretty incredible film, avant-garde and beautiful. I think it would fit the label.

I also ask anyone and everyone to give more old TV movies a shot. There are some really interesting and quite good horror and sci-fi (especially) movies from the '60s, '70s, & '80s that have never had releases or only on VHS, but also other genres. Once the '90s hit, TV movies all got super-cheesy and Lifetime-y, but before that, they were doing cool things. One in particular I would recommend heavily is THAT CERTAIN SUMMER (1972), which, if you can believe it for an early-'70s TV movie, was the first to portray a positive homosexual relationship between Martin Sheen and the just-passed Hal Holbrook. It's SO GOOD. Others I've loved:

Night Slaves (1970)
Five Desperate Women (1971)
See the Man Run (1971)
Goodnight, My Love (1972)
Gargoyles (1972)
Home for the Holidays (1972)
Baffled! (1972)
Go Ask Alice (1973)
Beg, Borrow...or Steal (1973)
Isn't It Shocking? (1973)
The Gun (1974)
The Dead Don't Die (1975)
Vampire (1979)
The Golden Gate Murders (1979)
The Babysitter (1980)
I, Desire (1982)
Don't Go to Sleep (1982)
The Execution (1985)

For those who may be on the fence about picking up FCE releases, a name like Altman might draw them in, even if it's "lesser" Altman.

Fun City Editions have announced quite a few great sounding titles, but they don't sell on name alone. An Altman title "might".

Yeah, I'd love some Altman, myself. I wish HEALTH could be done. But I'm pretty much in for anything right now. I've bought everything so far from Fun City and I like what I'm seeing.

There are music licensing issues plaguing REMEMBER MY NAME (a film I love), from what I understand.

TROUBLE IN MIND is currently under license to another North American label.

HEALTH is quite good and its near-total shelving was undeserved, which is the case for quite a few Altman films from the later '70s onward.

Programmed HANGING GARDEN in college and saw it several times when it came out, so you could say I liked it. Probably haven't seen it since 1997 or '98, though.

Thanks for the TV movie list...you can expect some from us in the future.

Oh man, I haven't seen Splash since the 90's. It feels like it's time to re-evaluate that classic. Thanks for the reminder.
