Kill Bill (do not really care for the first part but that start was amazing)
Kick-Ass (this always puts a smile on my face) Star Wars (Episode 4, the opening shoot after the credits is extremely clever and sets up everything you need to now about the war. It is in fact so clever I am still shocked it was directed by the same man who directed the prequels). Pans Labyrinth (go see this film now, I will not spoil anything) Avatar Hugo (immediately drew me into the world of the film, especially when viewed in 3d) |

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - The rest of the movie was "meh", but I love the beginning of the movie. Seeing Logan and Victor fight in all the wars from the American Revolution to Vietnam was awesome.
Jurassic Park - A beginning of a movie that scared the crap out of me as a little kid. Great opening to a great movie. Casino Royale - Great introduction to Bond in this one. The Last Boy Scout - Great opening to a movie that really caught be by surprise by how good it is. The Rundown - Love the fight scene in the club opening. Such a great way to open the movie. The curtains in front of the cinema screen part, the Strauss theme starts, and the the opening minute and a half of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY blows me away at the impressionable age of 14.
But for a sense of giddy exhilaration that set me up to think "Oh I'm gonna LOVE this movie", I pick Terry Gilliam's BRAZIL, with that great opening music and tracking shot of the office. |
