No, that's okay. It doesn't really matter, but thanks for the tip!

Cosmic jokes are on my mind.

32 years ago John Lennon was killed. When I was a teenager his music was the closest I had to a fatherly confidant (ironic with his track record in real life!).

Six years ago my father died. It fell on my shoulders to give doctors final instructions.

That night, I had been scheduled to publicly read my graduate thesis and was to be awarded my MA with special honors from Johns Hopkins. Obviously I had to pull the plug on that, too.

Because of my father's death, I had to retrench myself in the family business and that wound up scuttling my academic ambitions.

Needless to say, this is a very bitter day for me.

Thankfully, this afternoon I have plans with friends and in the hours before they swing by I plan on filling the Beatles Box of Visions I just received and absorbing myself in that. Blast some music and maybe briefly blast the past while I'm at it.

well, your story do not read like a joke. what you did after your fathers passing was a man's thing. let bitterness go. (easy to say) and enjoy your friends & good music.

I lost my father when I was 13. never got to know him that well, memories do fade. music was very important to him tho. like to me. inherited his vinyl collection. those records are important to me. he liked beatles & stones too. had 7" singles. might be worth something, but will never sell.

all good to you & thanks for sharing.

Quentin Tarantino said on Howard Stern that he loved Midnight in Paris (so do I), but can't stand Owen Wilson as an actor and would never cast him.

Sometimes I feel older than my age just because I like Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby etc. alongside my more modern tastes. Why should I feel bad for liking them?

I see that you are fond of the poetry of Edger Alan Poe. You know who I don't like? Walt Whitman.

I! Hate! You! Walt! Freaking! Whitman! Leaves of Grass, my ass!
