Couldn't resist, so I read the plot. Wow, not feeling it that much.

Also looks like Universal did a shitty job marketing the movie.

I may actually skip this theatrically.

Saw it on the faux-IMAX 3d screen nearby - 3D was average. Nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either.
3D 2.40:1 on big cinema screens is immersive, but 3D on the telly, with the image looking tiny inside black bars of 2.40:1, is a waste and does not feel immersive. 3D makes things look smaller anyway.

No, while the JW director made a good effort in restarting the franchise, I prefer JWtFK. It is easier on the eye and the dinos work better in my opinion.
Storywise nothing is original anymore

I think JW is the more 'fun' movie, but the dino cgi looked shitty imo. FK looked better but has a different feel to it, less 'fun summer blockbuster'. It goes more into thriller mode, without ever being scary though.

I went to watch it in IMAX 3D again last night (twice in one day) and still enjoyed myself a lot. My BF also liked it.

After my second viewing, the thing that most annoys me with FK is it suffers from people/dinos being exactly where they need to be when they need to be there, even if it doesn't make sense they'd be there at that exact moment, imo. Especially the last 30 minutes.

Also annoying is Wu, whose role is literally the same as JW, just whining nobody understands the magnitude of what he's doing.... ugh. It's a shame they're wasting his character so much...

I really liked all the copied scenes from previous movies, which I feel must have been done on purpose or so I hope.

Still 'worried' though where they're gonna take the next movie.

I think that's JW a good movie but I do not want to see it again
Nothing new is just special effects and it's sad

We need a few other firsts in the franchise, no Rapters, leading characters & annoying kids being eaten by dinosaurs, dark & really scary scenes.

Easily.

These are more over-the-top than the original series, but JW was entertainingly over-the-top. Things were as fun as they were ridiculous. It's a rollercoaster of a movie. Fallen Kingdom was just as silly, but it just sort of limps along from one thing to the next. It just doesn't seem like it's going anywhere, especially towards the end.

The first part that reprises The Lost World could've been exciting, but goes by too fast with no build up. It goes from 1 to 11 without ratcheting up the tension.

My nearest IMAX let Incredibles 2 take priority over this, and the next nearest one is only showing it in 3D IMAX, which I wasn't really wanting to see it in 3D.

But it's either that or regular showing. Hmm.

I'd say JWFK is better than JW. More visual flair and some surprisingly daring twists.

Ok thanks.

Trevorrow is an awful writer, sorry. He was the given the boot on Episode IX thankfully, but he's returning for Jurassic World 3 which I'm not looking forward to. Don't get me wrong, JP fans owe him a lot for bringing the series back and revitalizing it, but I think he got lucky with JW and that's why they keep bringing him back. Fallen Kingdom's script is a huge improvement to the first film, but the final act suffers a lot due in part to Trevorrow's script.

Oh Colin Trevorrow wrote this? That explains why the atrocious dialogue from the first film was carried over and why the characters were unbelievably two dimensional. Really, without that it would have instantly been a far better film. Bayona's direction and handling of the set pieces was really quite strong and I just about enjoyed the film overall. Far better than JW for sure.

agreed - the cinema can get away with it if you sit a tad closer than if it were a taller (Infinity War for example) image. But at home its going to look horrid

Am going to try and watch this again, as I really want to like it. But wont be paying for the IMAX upgrade. It'll have to be a 'free' 2D/3D screening

overwhelmingly yes. LOVE the first JW movie. Enjoyable more and more, each time I saw it.

As far as my current day Hollywood monster fix goes, Pacific Rim: Uprising and Rampage hit the spot well enough for one year but this was lazy, limp and directed with irritating indifference. Pratt, Howard and relative newcomer Daneilla Pineda kept it slightly bearable. I was itching to leave my cinema seat the moment the credits rolled.

Given it's U.S. release date is less than a fortnight away I can safely say, please save your money.

I agree with their bottom line that once you take the dinosaurs off the island it all falls apart, its bound to become silly.
