Yeah for about 40 mins, then they fixed it.
I wasn't bothered.

I watched JP3 and g'damn is this a disappointing release. So dull, bland and whatnot.
I remember the 1080p being so much more lively with colors and detail. There's virtually no visible HDR on the 4K disc. Grain has be scrubbed but some parts show visible macroblocking and haloing due to all the tampering.
Who the heck are these incompetent people doing Universal releases?

Looked great just wasn’t sure if they’ve changed the ratio for any of the future release.
Looks like they screwed up your viewing, had a similar thing happen when I saw Aliens SE in the cinema which they formatted to 2:39.1 so parts of the top and bottom were cut off, ended up getting my money back.

I think you've probably spent more money on this release than what Universal did.

Default JP 4K audio quality -- thoughts? Bass seems anemic to me.

Just watched my JP 4K Blu-ray. The audio is pretty good, but seems lower in level than other 4K BRs I've watched. Also, the deep bass presence and impact seems somewhat anemic, as in the impact tremors.

Ever since playing my JP Laserdisc back in the day, I've never been able to hear the awesome and visceral impact I got from that disc. This was noticed in both the impact tremors and the T Rex roars.

Do I have to crank this 4K version up all the way in order to approach that kind of impact?

If they've neutered the dynamics and filtered the low bass frequencies, then turning it up won't help.

No likey Jurassic park?

I seem to remember JP being good on the audio, impact tremors and roars on the T rex park ride scene were awesome. I also seem to remember JW kinda anemic compared to the original, do I have that backwards??

The audio on the regular Blu is no small peanuts, it roars.
I don't know about the laser disc, never heard it.
The DVD was just very fine for that format...dts.

I haven't heard it yet, I was just commenting on the opinion of the UHD's DTS: X audio track above. JP needs a superb soundtrack... that's part of its impact.

JP is notorious for being the first film using dts sound in theaters.
The T-Rex roar made history, and it will for years to come, far away from being extinct. ...Same for Godzilla and King Kong.

So the UHD Disc of JP1 is just an upscale of the blu-ray?

I'm probably not the best person to ask about that, there are far more knowledgeable people on here. One things certain is that this wasn't a brand new 4K scan taken from the negative.

Quite what the origin on the master used is open to debate.

An upscale from the same source that was used to create the Blu-ray you mean? If Universal had simply upscaled the Blu-ray they would be rotting in prison already.

As far as the source that's been used for this UHD disc I think no one knows for sure whether it is truly from a 4K scan of the original camera negative or if it is from an older sub-4K scan. JP1 apparently recieved a new 4K scan for the 3D release in 2013. So why didn't they use that scan? Or did they?
Only thing that's for sure is that JP1 on UHD should have looked better. It looks better than the blu-ray for sure, but it just doesn't look as good as it should.

He does care about ones that are the *most* personal to him. Like ET and CE3K. Etc. JP is an important landmark film for him, but merely at the time. Not now. Those others remain personal to him.

These older directors are just too busy with their commitments to filmmaking to do anything but "sign off" on the work for home video. To which I doubt their old eyes (and the fact it's just catalog, not cinematic releases) care much for standards?

My Fandango promo code that came with the steelbooks for a ticket to see Fallen Kingdom was invalid, and apparently it's the same story for everyone else who bought this set. That free movie ticket was one of the reasons I didn't mind buying this set for $54.99 at BestBuy.

Oh no I gave mine to a friend as those don't work in any theater in my state. Hope they don't hate me now.

For those trying to redeem the Fandango code, just use it as a code when checking out like normal. Ignore the instructions on the sticker. Just used mine and I can confirm that it definitely works.
