I think It was , you know what would be cool , a movie about how Heimdall became the guardian of the rainbow bridge , because you know he was kind of a Badd Ass . I hope we get a sequel and I would hope they don't have all their movies in the summer , there are movies that make alot of money in the winter too . Think around Christmas like Avatar .

I could concur with that; I'd rank it ahead of all Spidey, Hulk and Iron Man productions to date. Not sure about X-Men, though... Anyway, definately looking forward to a sequal!

Question for the comic guys... do Thor's stories take place spread out amongst the various planets? Where (or when) does the movie tie in with the comics?

We could see Thor 2 as early as 2013 with Iron Man 3, but it depends on what they decide to stick in the other slot. But like I said before, I believe 2014 is the latest we'll have to wait.
After seeing this post it made me think, why can't they come up with more creative names for their sequels other than sticking a number on the end? Don't know why but that always pisses me off.

I would say Thor's stories take place everywhere , here on earth , in other dimensions , out in deep space or on other worlds . in the comics Thor can teleport anywhere in the universe or other dimensions instantly , at one point he could even travel thru time but he has since lost that power . He is after all a god and a real Bad Ass one at that .

Well none of those are finalized titles, we don't even know if a Thor 2 is in production

I love action, super hero, romance, and many any other movies that piques my interest.... but this movie was a huge let down for me

I am a transformers: rotf lover so hear me out please

Cons

-The movie lacks character development/growth. What was natalie portman's name in the movie again...? Exactly. They just refer to her as that mortal. What's her friends name? I immediately forgot and she wasn't a part of the story anymore after her cute gestures towards chris hemsworth and his smoking hot body which I do admit... is enticing even for a male
-Lacks plot
-Little action (The biggest scene of the movie was...what? That's right...nothing)

[Show spoiler]A robot that protects other planet's source of power in a chamber....Big villain huh? One little flick and thor is nearly dead? He swishes his hammer in dramatic fashion in a tornado and kabloowie... the robot is dead. Nothing dramatic except Natalie Portan rushing to him which was beautifully done.

Psh... ice mutants? Hah that little freak didnt do anything except talk sh**!

Oh and the "big" battle between thor and his brother? That was nothing... The fights I have with my dysfunctional family is 10 times worse.

The fisticuffs between the shield agent's "mall cops" and thor? That one fight between the rock and vin diesel had more action than all the action in this movie put together.

-Felt like it was rushed just to meet the avengers movie release

Those are just a few of the problems I have with this movie

My personal rating out of 5? 3/5

Huge letdown... Fast five was far better in terms of plot, direction, etc etc

I watched fast five, thor, and then rio in theaters today by the way

Rio was far better too -_- That just shows you how much it sucked... well for me

I do admit there were a few good moments... but overall it tasted like a burnt waffle w/ a few good edible parts here and there dipped in maple syrup

I didn't remember Legolas' name after watching the first LotR movie. I barely remember Megan Fox's name after watching and owning both Transformer movies. The point is remembering the characters' actions and words IMO.

As for the conflicts, I tend to think they were more internal and emotional rather than external fights. The Frost Giants and The Destroyer were only obstacles that showed us more about the characters (Frost Giants: Thor is a warrior who lusts for battle;
[Show spoiler]The Destroyer: shows Thor's change of mind and heart when he faces it alone, without powers, to save his friends; Battle with Loki: Thor is a powerful god, there was never any question that he was stronger than Loki, what mattered was his willingness to fight his brother and destroy the Bifrost to stop the annihilation of a people he would have destroyed "single handedly".
)

Though, that is just my take.

I just finished watching Thor: Tales of Asgard. I think it's quite good, though the action scenes are disappointing to me.
[Show spoiler]I think both Thor and Odin are quite weak in this movie.
And the twist is predictable.

Animation and music are pretty good.
Some funny, clever dialogues

Overall, I gave it 3.5/5

Names don't matter as much as their actions<----- I agree

The point I was trying to make (poorly worded I know) was that the growth of the characters never came about. I was hoping for more background information that makes them a necessity or when their role in the film would lead to something.

The conflicts were more emotional and internal? I guess I could agree...the main conflict were the different outlooks thor and his dad had about ruling the kingdom. Nevertheless... I was hoping for better action

A dramatic punch to the face by his dad instead of dialogue, 1 flick by the robot should be replaced with a barrage of savage ray beams mutilating his body beyond human repairment...until a kiss by the act of love from the gorgeous natalie portman w/ the hammer (sounds very cute by the way ) will resurrect him from near death, a heart wrenching fight between his brother (ripping off limbs, eye gouging, hammer in the ass, etc)

Maybe I was expecting too much action after watching fast five? I'll rewatch it when it gets released I guess

Edit-I love the way they pronounced mjolnir in the movie!
[Show spoiler]Mew mew was it?

Given the box office success I imagine another Thor film will be made, with a 2013 release at the earliest.

As others have said, Marvel could have trouble fitting all these films into one year assuming Captain America does well and gets a sequel and there's always the possibility of another Avengers film too! That could take the franchise into 2015!

I'd like to see another Thor film, but set it on Earth.

Well, I'd like to see another Thor film, but set it on Asgard
though I think it'll never happen because it costs too much

I thought the pronunciation was pretty funny too. There was a lot of good humor in the movie.

I agree on seeing a sequel. Lets keep pulling for Thor to continue its box office success .

I would love to see a Thor prequel at some point, to see the warriors three, Lady Sif, Thor and Loki, doing some fighting together for the entire movie, kinda like the Thor: Tales of Asgard.

Just got back a couple of hours ago from seeing it. I loved it almost if not more than Iron Man. Easily a five star movie for me. I will probably see it again. I loved the humorous scene when
[Show spoiler]Thor comes into the pet shop and demands a horse. We don't have Horses. We have Dogs, Cats, and Birds. Well give me a big one, I can ride.
I thought Anthony Hopkins was great as usual.

I enjoyed this, but not as much as I hoped I would. I knew going in the time on Asgard wouldn't interest me as much and considering that's where all the plot was it felt a little weak. I think I was hoping for more of an Avengers precursor than a Thor film.
