I watched Lost World last night for the first time in years. The movie doesn't hold up as well as the first one, but it's still fun. I was not impressed with the PQ at all (that opening scene on the beach looked horrible), although it got better as it went along -- dark scenes looked best to me. AQ was nice.

I'd argue that it's an exception to the rule when Sony put out a bad catalog title (for eg. the US Fifth Element disc), but the exception to the rule with Universal is a good catalog title (The Mummy for eg.).
Sony actually had a lot of bad catalog titles. The early spider-man releases, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, 50 First Dates, A Knight's Tale, Hitch, and the early Ghostbusters to name a few. And those are just the ones I've seen first hand. Not to say that Sony completely sucked. It's just that they had a rough start for the first few years. Which is a shame, as it led to a lot of double dipping in the Blu-ray format that was unnecessary. But then a lot of this double dipping is really unnecessary. Yet we still take the bait. Hook, line, and sinker. All while they're scaling and gutting us.

That's insinuating that TLW was good twenty years ago.

The Lost World was good 20 years ago. Still is good. It's not some sort of trainwreck. It's not my favorite of the bunch, but it's still one of the better Jurassic Park/World sequels. Miles away better than Fallen Kingdom.

TLW is demonstrably better than anything following it, but still about 20% worse than that which preceded it as a film;

JP 95%
TLW 75%
JP3 60%
JW 35%
JW2 TBD

My Rotten Tomatoes take...

JP1 - 9/10
JW - 8/10
TLW - 5.5/10
JP3 - "Alan!"/10

I'm not sure where Fallen Kingdom will end up, but it will have to try really hard to make me dislike it as much as TLW.

I don't think it's gonna end after JW: FK's sequel, they gonna make a ton of money and at the end of the movie they gonna hint something survived to keep milking the jurassic cow. Those waiting for a "complete set" shouldn't buy these movies as it'll never be complete, look at the FAF franchise I thought they would drop it after Walker's demise but they didn't and it's not in the same box office league as the Jurassic Park sequels. I bought the 4k boxset but since I truly hate book packaging I printed 4 individual covers and I am future proof for the many upcoming jurassic movies we'll get.

It looks and sound amazing, it's the best of the bunch for the 4k specs.

I agree, absolutely love the grain in World. Especially in the "control room" scenes. So clean and sharp and distinct but not overbearing. Pretty much perfect.

There have been a few people not liking the 4k scan of TLW. I just don't see it. Say what you will about the movie itself but the 4k looks great. To my eyes it's just barely a half step below JW in picture quality.

Lost World looks superb, aside from the overly aggressive black crush.

LOL, that "Alan!" really had me

But... it's my second favorite JP movie next to the original. I don't understand the hate for it.

I'd rate them like this:

1. JP
2. JP III
3. JW
4. TLW

As far as UHD PQ goes, TLW is definitely the best of the bunch! I prefer it over JW.

Btw I'm still laughing.

I worry about you sometimes DJ. First Mission Impossible 2 and now Jurassic Park 3. I better not find you in the Predator trilogy thread telling people you really like Predators.

LOL.

Don't worry. I've seen Predators only once and the only thing I remember, is that I hated it.

It's the best 4K picture quality of the four.
And the 3D version is more T-Rex scary, more immersively menacing. I personally prefer.

Congratulations to everyone that bought the Jurassic Park 25th collection. Most people won't be bothered, but Best Buy is laughing at us collectors right now.

Wow... glad I waited.

I actually ended up watching JP on Blu-ray a few weeks ago as my buddy wanted to watch it. It held up very well. I don't know if it is worth taking the plunge on the 4k set.

I do say I want JP world though...
