Finally saw this with the family today (local theater has $2 Tuesday's this month so I waited) My wife has a huge fear of clowns but wasn't scared by this version of Pennywise at all. I thought the movie was more funny than scary because most of the scares were telegraphed so much. I did enjoy it and rate it 4 stars because IT was a good movie. I think that Mike needed more screen time and felt like an add-on to the story at the end. I didn't like the new Pennywise because he just wasn't as scary as I thought he would be

I also think if Chapter Two does good then we will get 2 or more prequels/sequels. I would be up for at least 1 prequel that explains the origin of IT/Pennywise and with Bill Skarsgard's age he could play Pennywise for a decade or more and be Freddy for a new generation

Yeah, people in my theater were really surprised when the title "IT: Chapter One" appeared on screen. And I'm like, seriously? You guys forgot the part where the kids turn to adults? I can understand if there were like 10 or 15 people who have no knowledge of the novel and TV miniseries, but no. Pretty much almost half of the audience in my theater gave a huge reaction when they found out that there is a Chapter Two coming.

Chapter Two will probably explain IT's origins.

Audiences hate stuff like this, they'll turn on the franchise quickly if they try doing it.

A third movie? I think that would be pushing it....
just end it with the second film.

I think one big reason why 3 parts is unlikely is Muschietti's schedule, but they could always shoot parts 2 and 3 back to back.

I just don't like that idea at all. I mean there's no guarantee that the second film will be as good as the first part. Even if they film both back to back, if Chapter 2 fails, no one is going to care for the third part and we'll all be talking about how they screwed up the perfect opportunity to make a great adaptation of IT.

I wonder if Mike's bit role is a book problem, cause both films now have given young Mike little to do.
I know he will be a bigger factor in Chapter 2, so maybe more of his flashbacks will be used then?

I really don't know if I like that idea, but at last the book has enough material to fill out 3 movies. Not like The Hobbit, which easily could've been one 3 hour movie.

Instead of stretching one King property, how about readapting more of his books like Salem's Lot or The Stand?

I would love decent remakes of Cujo, Salem's Lot, Silver Bullet and Thinner.

I love Cujo, Salem's Lot and Silver Bullet, the movies. But would be nice to see them updated.

I kinda like Thinner, it is VERY cheesy, more funny than scary. Would like to see it done a little more seriously.

Yeah, don't hold your breath for a Chapter 3. Chapter 2 is all you're gonna get -- anything more than that and it's wishful thinking.

Of course, calling it "Chapter One of Two" just sounds stupid. I'm overthinking it.
I wish they had stuck, with the big bold font, used on the cover of the original novel. I love it being called Chapter One.

They really do have the material. A second film could feature Mike as the lead, while he does his interviews. Flashbacks to all the major events in Derry history featuring Pennywise. More flashbacks to the kids as Mike remembers more time with them. End with Mike realizing IT is officially back, and cut with Stan or Bill answering the phone.

Chapter 3 picks right up with everyone getting their calls. They could easily do it, and I'd be down.

I'll tell you this much -- if they do go with a Chapter 3, which they won't, Andy and Barbara won't be back to produce and direct.

You'll already be getting a 2.5 hour-long Chapter 1 and most likely a 2.5 hour-long Chapter 2. It's a done deal. The rest is just silly nerd wet dreams.

There's absolutely nothing in that article that has any quotes, references, or links of any kind to anything whatsoever. It's just pure click-bait.

I've read the book many times and it has a huge amount of material that could've been covered, so I wouldn't have minded at all if they did this, if they had originally started out and planned for it to be three movies. They could've had the first part be about the kids getting together and getting to know each other and finding out about and experiencing dealing with IT and coming up with a plan about how to defeat IT, the second movie could've been the adults getting back together again in Derry and figuring out what to do, while also remembering and experiencing IT's resurgence this time around, then the third movie could be a back and forth, cutting between the kids battling IT and inter-cut with the adults doing the same. The book actually kind of works sort of like this, so it would've been pretty cool, if they had started out and made the first part this way.

But they obviously didn't originally plan for it to be three movies, as we've already had the kids part start from the very beginning of their story, go through the major plot points of their story, and then completely finishing off the ending of their half of the story, so I think it would be a horrible idea at this point and would be just a blatant cash-grab from the studio, and thankfully it appears that this isn't going to be the case, since that's just some bullshit click-bait article.

I was the same way a year ago, when the logo was first revealed. It's grown on me. Besides, I like that it sets it apart from the miniseries.
