A glass of coke and then sleep for a week waiting for my projector to arrive.

I watched Timecop with Van Damme. A pretty bad movie but i like anything with a time travel plot.

I love time travel movies too, but come on!

Tonight I did something I haven't done in a long while. I listened to some CDs in my HT room intead of just on my living room setup. I almost exclusively use my HT room setup for watching BD movies and concerts and my living room setup for DVDs, CDs, and a few mp3s from my pc.

These are the albums I listened to tonight:

I fiddled around with the "all speaker stereo" mode for a minute or two, but then I compared it to the pure, direct, and 2ch. stereo modes, and the all channel mode just didn't cut it. Although I did like the pure and direct modes with no subs, I settled on the 2 ch. stereo mode. My bookshelf fronts with ribbon tweeters sounded great, but the little 6.5" drivers really needed the help from the subs for the deep bass.

I played around with some of the adjustments that I never mess with, and ended up dropping the crossovers for the fronts from 70~80hz down to 50hz. 40hz sounded too seperated and punchy for the subs and 60hz sounded a bit too boomy for the subs. I also changed the Audyssey recommended distance for the subs from 6.0ft to 7.0ft as it seemed to align the bass with the other speakers a bit more. 6.5 still seemed a hair sluggish and 7.5 seemed a bit too early. I've never messed with the distances suggested by Audyssey before, and I wonder if this is only appropriate for 2ch. music, or if movies would seem more tight and aligned with this setting also.

I also noticed that even though I didn't care for the sound quality in all speaker stereo mode, the subs sounded significantly louder than in 2ch. stereo mode. My normal Audyssey suggested setting for the LFE level in the avr is -0.5 which is almost too much for crazy bass movies, but usually seems almost perfect normally, but with high quality 2ch. stereo CDs I had the sub output set around +7db~+9db and it sounded very appropriate.

I really feel like I got a different type and level of enjoyment out of my HT setup than I ever have before. Out of all the songs I listened to, two that really stood out for me was Dire Straits - Your Latest Trick and Steely Dan - Aja. I had no idea my equipment could sound that good.

What's hoppin', Frogger?

Here's something to get your Walking Dead juices flowing. Hines Ward, former Pittsburgh Steeler and Super Bowl winner, has been bitten.

I'm actually a little more excited about season 2 of Game of Thrones coming out on BD, and even much more excited about the season 3 premiere!
[Show spoiler]

I've read all five of the available supposed seven books of the "A Song of Fire & Ice" books that are the basis for the "Game of Thrones" tv show, and by my calculations, with the third season, they will go about halfway into the five books that have been released thus far. George R.R. Martin the author of the books takes many years between writing each of the books and has slowed down immmensely, although he compares the tv show to a freight train barreling down on him to finish his saga.

This song makes fun of how slowly he writes them:

For those that give a damn about Game of Thrones, these are the U.S. publishing dates of the books that it's based on, thus far:

1) A Game of Thrones: August 1996 (TV show season1)
2) A Clash of Kings: February 1999 (TV show season 2)
3) A Storm of Swords: November 2000 (TV show seasons 3 and 4)
4) A Feast For Crows: November 2005
5) A Dance With Dragons: July 2011
6) The Winds of Winter: Forthcoming
7) A Dream of Spring: Forthcoming

Lol. I'm excited for season 3 too. But since we canceled our premium channels there's nothing I can do but wait for the BD release. OTOH, I get AMC, so bring on the dead... not the grateful kind either.

I'm just saying that if they split the next couple of books in half for the tv show the way they're doing the third one for the 3rd and 4th seasons to slow down the pace, we'll run out of books by 2018 at the latest ,if he doesn't hurry up and finish them. I had never read any of the books until I had seen the first season. He's rather old and fat and at his present pace, may die before completing the next few books, but apparently he has shared the basic story line with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss; the creators, producers and main writers for the tv show, so even if we don't get all of the books, we should at least get an ending for the tv show.

That's what I was just trying to figure out. I've narrowed it down to these, I think:
Apollo 13
The Terminator
Inception
The Fifth Element
Fellowship of the Ring
Firefly

I think I know which one you would pick.

I'm heading in there now to figure it out. Have a great night!
