Yeah, at the same level, it was no comparison.

And yeah, if I do turn it up one notch higher on the IMAX version, it matches pretty closely, from what I can tell.

Well then your original comparison was not a fair one since one track (standard version) was playing louder by 4db which is huge. Once volume matched, they shold be identical.

If I'm looking at the waterfall analysis correctly, it's a 1 SECOND snapshot of the audio spectrum at one moment in the movie.

So, we can ignore screenshot scientists with their proof of Gladiator being a bad transfer because we don't watch movies frame by frame but a waterfall/sound sample of audio is good enough proof that the entire soundtrack is good dyanmically?

My goodness guys, over and over again, post after post, the sound issue HAS been resolved. THE BSE edition from Walmart(aka imax version if you were born 1 minute ago and havent read the million posts on every forum on the net) is the exact same to the regular version, but 4db quieter due to dialnorm. This was resolved the night it was released and yet a week later people still debating, there is NOTHING yes NOTHING to debate, they are the same, the BSE Edition is just quieter, turn your receiver up 4db and it will be the exact same.

Well there are still those spreading false information, but I absolutely agree with you.

Even if it is only one second, if there was a defect, these two tracks wouldn't be identical. The bass on the IMAX version would be lower even just for that second.

And why keep bringing up Gladiator? No, you cannot judge a film by the screen shot. Any professional can tell you that. But you can still illustrate problems that way. And Gladiator did have issues. Maybe not to the magnitude that some made it out to be, but the issues were still there.

Just played my Walmart IMAX version. Brilliant image and audio. Absolutely no issues with dialog which sounds to me the same as in the cinema. Don't have the standard version to compare to. Bitstreaming into a Denon receiver.

Who is spreading false information?

I see people posting their own observations and believe there is an issue.
I could understand if I was the only single person who has encountered an issue with the Imax issue but between several forums, there are more people complaining about the audio dynamics of the Imax version.

How many people are still experiencing the problem?

Also, could you list some time stamps where you're experience a major difference? I talked to the person who made the waterfalls and he'll make some more for you if you want.

Finally got a chance to watch the big screen edition tonight. All I can say is WOW!!! No LFE issues to report here. I actually had to turn my sub down a few decibals! The audio is, in a word, dynamic. No complaints!

Playback was on a 40 GB PS3, PCM, at -10. My ears are still ringing!

Wow, gotta admit I just got and listened to the first 5 minutes of the non Walmart version. It's insane!

I found this thread after buying the walmart version last week and thinking it didn't sound as good as I expected. So I Amazon'ed the other version and dam, it sounds much more open and 3D than the walmart one.

I was skeptical to be honest. But wow!

Oh man......

Freestyle99, did you turn up the WM version 4db louder than the normal version to compensate for the dialnorm? If not then you are not making a fair comparison since the WM version is 4db lower in overall volume compared to the regular version.
