But for me the symptoms are sporadic and when they do come it doesn't last long (yet).

Now playback volume levels often depend or go hand in hand (with me at least) with the backround noise. Right now I'm watching Hercule Poirot episodes in my office and the meter is averaging from lower than 50db to peaks of around 58 db (It's 5 am here). Now later on in the day my normal comfort range is about 65 - 70ish db's with peaks about 15 -20 db's higher. My rule of thumb is..... having the dialog in a movie at a natural listening level (or slightly lower) and let the peaks go where they may

And your right...... in that human hearing is more sensitive to the higher frequencies than the lower ones .... (sorta ) see ...... http://www.silcom.com/~aludwig/EARS.htm
Good night Russ.

Thanks for the link, that was an interesting read. I don't think that I ever listen to my HT loud enough to cause any damage to my hearing. Ocassionally I will blast a certain scene for a minute or two (like my notorious Super 8 train crash situation), but it is fairly seldom that I do that. Thanks for looking out for me.

482€/635$. In the US your electronic devices is quite a bit cheaper than in the EU. This is a pretty good deal considering the normal EU prices.
That's a really sleek looking laptop!

I'm sure that you know a lot more about computers than I do, but it looks really nice.

Damn changed my mind. Now i want AMD Radeon HD 6850M instead of AMD Radeon HD 7670M. Only around 10% faster but with the shift comes a Core i5-2450M cpu instead of a Core i3-2330M. The difference between the cpu's is properly also only around 10% if clocked the same. The price difference is 22.7% so looking at it this way it properly isn't a better purchase but now at least i wont have too wonder about Core i5.

Now i just have to wait for my money too return again from the wire transfer.

On top of this i can get a 30% performance increase if i pay an additional 30% $ and again further 50% if with a 39% $ add.

But one also have too think a little into the future and be aware that it's value will drop a lot in a very short time. So not the smartest too get a very expensive device.

Confused much?

Umm... Get the good one.

I know what you mean. I've been looking at refurbished receivers at accessories4less for days and days and can't decide what to get from a price/quality standpoint. I really don't have the money to be thinking about this at all right now, and it seems silly to just make a tiny step up from the receiver that I have right now. Once I do get a better receiver, I can move my Sony back in to the living room, and hook up my Polk center and fronts to it.

Do you still feel like your old Onkyo(607?) actually sounded better overall than your new Denon 4311?

I liked it better for movie watching be cause it was brighter than the 4311. For the price i gave i fell a bit cheated actually. But all the extra features are cool though. The sound quality is a bit better but nothing major imo.

Now im pondering maybe writing the computer seller back again and saying i want the 7670 lappy anyway. hmm im confuced after a whole day of looking a prices and comparisons. Not sure if i need the 10% added performance or it'll be just a waist. It's sunday so no one have gotten anuthing anyway..10% for surfing and 10% for gaming (the 10% of the cpu wont matter in games)

Wow, I'm sorry to hear you feel cheated. So I take it you would recommend Onkyo over Denon in a very general sense?

I'm really not the person to talk to about computers, as I honestly know very little about the hard-core specs. One thing I will say is that my old timey computer seems pretty fast most of the time, but since I have supposed "broadband" that's really not much better than dialup, my surfing speeds can really bog down from time to time. Basically, it seems like your internet service speed would be more important than your CPU's speed, as far as surfing goes.

Yes Onkyo for movie watching. With music the denon and others are properly better. Also it depends on how ones ear is tuned. Just like different speakers sound different depnding on the person but too a lesser extent with amps i believe.

Up too around 10mb broadband i think is the most important. Cpu power isnt very important for web-surfing.

My internet speed varies from 10kb~1mb depending on the time of day. That's pretty crappy! It bogs down around 5pm to about 9pm when more people around here are surfing I guess.

Sorry too hear that mate. Maybe try and clean your tempfiles with Ccleaner, remove malware with Malwarebytes and then use TCP Optimizer by selecting your advertised speed with the slider, click optimal and hit apply.

These are good tools i've used them many times myself.

If you haven't switched too Firefox or Chrome yet do this.

Check your net speed using www.speedtest.net/.

Thanks for the links. I have AVG, and I also delete my tempfiles and defrag my computer fairly regularly. I have also tried the speed test many times. My main problem is just my crappy Cricket wireless broadband speed, and I'm almost used to it. I could probably switch to a cheaper service provider that would be much faster, but I've just been too lazy to look into it like I should.

It definitely is just slow service, but I'm used to it. I've had this same slow internet for about 4 years.
