I would assume he will show up. Would seem silly to bring that up but not bring in that character.

Gunn said he didn't want to cut those scenes, but it was the last scene cut from the film, because it was part of a longer sequence that slowed the film a bit too much. But he's open to an extended cut down the like, to put some of it back in, if given the chance.

To get Marvel's first extended cut, on this film no less, is just… Walt, I think I'm high on believing this could happen.

I don't see that happening with Disney, but I would appreciate it, given that I thought the film moved too fast. I can hope they're part of the deleted scenes.

Great movie. Very entertaining, and was pleasantly surprised by the heart tugging scenes.

Help me out here though...
[Show spoiler]WHAT was with the Howard the duck scene? Is it some sort of nod that I'm totally lost on?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's focus on Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor has become routine or even a tad rote, but here comes a potent blast of fresh air in the form of the Guardians of the Galaxy. A type of pop space opera, the film pairs a Earth-born outlaw with four dysfunctional alien compatriots, including a machine-gun-wielding raccoon and a scene-stealing living tree (an adorable monster and my personal favorite). Together, they combat outer-space evil. It may build to an unsurprising—though still involving—sequence of race-to-save-the-world combat and pursuit, but there are so many exciting, hilarious, and/or riveting details and detours along the way. In fighting shape for the role which will forever change his promising career, Chris Pratt shines, exuding intense man-of-action confidence while also dispensing wry one-liners with an expert's ease. As one of the other guardians, a musclebound alien dead-set on avenging his slain family, martial artist and wrestler Dave Bautista is a pleasant surprise. His imposing physique is complemented by unexpectedly spot-on deadpan comic timing. The protagonists in general are wonderful; the tensions and bonds within the fresh-faced cosmic superhero team are not only introduced, but also deeply felt. Their worlds, too, are intriguing, overflowing with vivid colors and numerous retro art-direction flourishes.

Spry and humorous, the film is simply a very pleasant way to spend two hours. Its enormous charms compensate for a few not-insignificant flaws, including a couple squandered side players, including Glenn Close and, sadly, Benicio Del Toro, whose absurd, yet quietly menacing intergalactic "Collector" I hope to see again in future films. The antagonist, Lee Pace's genocidal Ronan the Accuser, is also unmemorable, particularly compared to the instant-classic heroes. Pace is a gifted actor, and he tries to bolster the role with a catalog of growls and scowls, but the macabre-generic design of the character leaves much to be desired, and the motives behind his destruction are barely explored.

B+

Having not known anything about the characters or the comic books, I had initially thought this movie was going to suck and bomb at the box office. It was too out there, I had believed.

I am so glad to be wrong. I had a blast and loved it all.

Groot=What's not to love.

Drax=Not utilized enough, IMO. Thought his tough guy routine was a bit overdone in the beginning, but he steadily improved through the film.

Gamora=Loved her a lot. She's got a lot of character growth ahead of her in future movies.

Rocket=The one I thought would be the silliest turns out to be the one I came away with loving the most. He is my new hero. I can't say enough about how much I love Rocket and that I want to see more of him.

Peter Quill=Incredible character and story arc. Loved him a lot. He really brought a lot to the film and his first scenes were just stellar.

[Show spoiler]I thought the end credits scene totally sucked. Pointless. Total waste of time, IMO.

Overall, this was a lot of fun and the acting was really good. Chris Pratt's career has just been solidified as a major actor in Hollywood, IMO.

Bring on the next Marvel movies. All this did was make me want more!

So, I'm seeing it again next week.

I'm guessing the topless Gamora scene comes from the "showered down" part in the prison. That's the only place I can imagine it fitting.

Still a better movie than Spider-Man 3.

If The Collector is supposed to be a villain then why does he do things for the good guys like in Thor 2 at the end Odin has him hold the Aether?

Kevin Feige on the post credits scene + Actor details - SPOILERS

[Show spoiler]
Quote:
Most well known for his 1986 film, critically panned and a box office bomb, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige jokes that "it would be fun to lay claim to Howard and to remind people that he's more than just a pseudonym for film failure. And that he is a Marvel character. That would be fun." Though it is unlikely the character will star in another movie, Ain't It Cool News also exclusively revealed that the actor behind the voice of Mr. The Duck is none other than Seth Green of Family Guy and Robot Chicken fame.

That is one of the main reasons I haven't loved any of the Marvel movies thus far the way I have DC superhero flicks like Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy or Superman I & II. The villains have been boring for the most part. The best one thus far in the Marvel universe(this excludes the X-Men and Spider-Man series) is Loki. He was very good in the first Thor and The Avengers.

But the rest of the villains were unmemorable to say the least. The next best ones were probably Alexander Pierce and The Winter Soldier in Captain America 2 which is why not surprisingly that's the best Marvel movie to come along since The Avengers. Iron Man 3 did have a great villain til about halfway through the film when they decided to ruin him(and the movie in the process) with one of the most asinine plot twists to come along in a very long time.

Loki was pretending to be Odin at the end, remember? Then The Collector, after getting the Aether, says "One down, five to go". He is clearly gathering Infinity Stones for someone…

Bane was a horrible villain along with that movie.

Red Skull and Loki have been the best in the MCU so far with Loki the clear #1. I agree with you on IM3. Kingsley was set up to be epic.

Red Skull was ok. One of the better Marvel villains in the series thus far, but that says more for how much the rest of them suck.

As for Bane, I liked Hardy's performance. It wasn't easy with that mask covering most of his face and that strange voice he spoke with, but he managed to make that character into more than just some hulking brute. Now Talia al-Ghul? She was not very good in that movie. And I still have major issues with the villains sticking around for the bomb to go off when they could've easily snuck out of Gotham a day or two before the thing detonated and still succeeded in their plan without dying unnecessarily(notwithstanding Batman's eventual interference).
