My original reaction to that whole idea was "hell naw" but over the years I've kind of warmed to it more and more. Sometimes taking franchises in new, bold, increasingly out there and wacky directions is what's needed to keep things interesting and prevent them from becoming stale.

Well people can differentiate between Chris Pratt the movie star and Chis Pratt the everyday person.

Mr. Pratt has a bright career because he's charismatic, has made great relationships, and has a huge hit under his belt. If you're making money and audiences show up for your movies, Hollywood doesn't care if you vote one way or the other, or hunt and fish, or support limited government.

I don't know, man. Seems like quite the thing these days on social media. Annoying.

If that was the case Mel Gibson would still have a viable career and Gary Oldman wouldn't be making public apologizes for statements he made in Playboy Magazine about how Hollywood is ran. It is surprising that Hollywoods current go-to man is everything they usually despise. That's all.

The next sequel will have the raptors as house pets, replacing the dogs as man's best friend. What Pratt's character is doing in Jurassic World is just the beginning. Then one of them called Caesar will start to show unusual intelligence, starts to rebel and will become the leader of the dinosaurs to take over the world from man. Rise of the Planet of the Jurassic Dinosaurs.

The whole franchise will end with women inheriting the Earth.

Well, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver were hired after writing Dawn of the Apes, so I guess Dawn of the Dinosaurs movie is not really that impossible. Actually, it'd be interesting. It would steer away from the staple rougue dino on an island theme that has been the staple with all the JP movies including JW.
In fact, at the end of the first novel Dr Marty Guitierrez talks to Alan Grant about some Raptors that escaped to South American villages - which eventually became the plot for a lot of comics from Topps. I can see that becoming a movie. But it will become limited to Raptors only, unless a whole bunch of Dinosaurs also swam ashore.

That's when they'll need to hire uncle Sam to save the day.

There are B movies with the dinos in city plot. So I hope the JP franchise does not get into that territory.

It would be better to end the franchise after a JW sequel (I presume this would be to recover or destroy the data from the island ala JP the game). More dignified that way.

I, personally, would just like to forget that the third act of The Lost World ever happened. It really dragged that film down from solid to mediocre.

Almost everything we get now from Hollywood are basically pumped up B-movies, so I don't see what you point is. Almost any premise can be done well, now more than ever that the technology is up to scratch. And there have been some pretty cool movies with dinos in cities, which are genre classics now (the 1920s The Lost World, The Beast From 20.000 Fathoms, The Valley of Gwangi)

To use the word "dignity" in regard to Hollywood and to suggest ending a series for artistic reasons is rather naive. If it makes money JP will continue, but there is no reason why they can't make a few more fun popcorn flicks. If you are so worried about dignity and artistic integrity you can just stop watching them.

Yeah, that was stupid (along with the whole gymnastics). Not to mention the bad editing that left crucial points out of that movie.

I guess we've reached the base.

I love the Rex walking around that kid's window. Best moment in the film.

I think the things Gibson said would've been controversial regardless of whether he was a Republican or Democrat. I think what sets Pratt apart from your examples is that he doesn't rant about liberals, Jews, etc. in interviews (as far as I know) and I think Hollywood can probably tolerate Republicans just fine as long as they avoid doing that kind of thing.

I love the San Diego sequence, it's the coolest, most entertaining part of The Lost World. How can a T. rex running around in a city be a bad thing?

Don't forget about maybe the best example, the original 1954 Godzilla. Featuring a (giant, fictional species of) dinosaur wreaking havoc in cities didn't stop it from becoming a highly rated, well-regarded classic.

My favorite part is the Japanese men running away from the T. rex, screaming "I left Japan to get away from this!" in Japanese. A brilliant moment of humor, it's kinda too bad you have to either speak the language to understand it or have read about it online to even know. I bet Japanese audiences loved that.
