Nope. Never use mine for any premiums. Been careful with that.

I just looked through the last couple weeks worth of posts on reddit and don't see anyone getting cancelled because of premium showings. Just one dude that ordered his ticket online while he was at the theater.

Once again, MP can not see what movie you are purchasing. All they see is the dollar amount charged to the card, and the movie/time you pick in their app. That's it. They rely on the honor system that you are picking the movie you are are actually seeing.

I see 6 unique threads from different posters on the first page of r/MoviePassClub responding with the same email from MoviePass, saying it's due to using MP for a premium film.

Ah, I was looking at r/moviepass

Looks like it was a surge of bans but most if not all are disputed. Most likely an automated system MP tried to do and it failed. Just from browsing it looks like it is with people that purchased tickets at concession stands, or some that bought two tickets with 1 transaction, using 2 cards. Definitely cause for concern, but not at all indicative of MP knowing what is and isn't a premium purchase.

Recliners are not a factor since Studio Movie Grill, one of their finance partners & one of the four chains to allow e-tickets, has recliners along with dine-in concessions.

My two local movie theatres no longer show up when I type in my zip code. They used to before.

Well, if you have an Android you might have a problem signing into the Moviepass app. It happened to me. I finally got someone on the phone and they told me the new update effects some Android smart phones. Something to do with facebook trying to connect even if you haven't merged the two. When you try to log in, you'll see a message "No Moviepass User found with this Facebook account." The dude I got on the phone was helpful and was able to make the reservation for me after I gave him my card number, theatre location and movie showtime. Still, it took them about a half hour to get back to me. (If you're lucky, you can select an option for Moviepass to call you back because they are busy with other calls. I'll bet!) I asked for a rough timeline of when the issue might be fixed. Originally, he said they hoped it would be 10 days but now Moviepass has no idea. So, this is a great service when it works. Just hope and pray you never have a technical issue...

saying its 7.99 a month for a annual subscription seems dishonest when they also charge a 19.95 dollar processing fee bringing the total up to $9.61 a month (unless the 19.95 is the is for fandor and you can ignore it for movie pass the articles unclear on if movie pass requires the processing fee).

From what I read sounds like the 1 transaction with two cards issue, which is an easy mistake to make, I accidentally ran into this one (thankfully no action on my account, used it for 15:17 to Paris tonight).

I typically just buy tickets at the Kiosk, that way if I'm going with someone else, I can just buy my ticket on Movie Pass and do another transaction on regular credit card. But when I went to see Greatest Showman on Christmas with two other people, the Kiosk was down so had to use box office. I specifically told the box office attendant to buy one ticket using Movie Pass and the other two using my personal credit card, but to get all the seats next to each other (cause of AMC's stupid policy of all reserved seating at every theater in my area), but noticed instead she did it as a split transaction, and about $2 beyond normal ticket price was charged on the MP card. So, since MP just sees the cost billed, that probably looks like a premium showing to them, and I imagine if it's something people do several times (which some on Twitter admitted happened, even with no intent to abuse the system), MP will ban them for it.

I habe had to use 2 cards in one transaction for showings that where their cards didn't cover the full price (but they were clickable on the app) so hopefully nothing will happen

The main issue I'm seeing the most in regards to this ban (which, according to MP, seems to be around 1,000 users) stems from people not doing separate transactions, so the extra cushion money that MoviePass puts on a card is getting maxed out on one card, and the other MoviePass card (or other form of payment) is then processing a smaller fee. That maxed out card is being seen, on MoviePass' system, as some sort of premium ticket purchase. That's why everyone is complaining about how they've never used it for premium purchases.

So far, MoviePass' response has been, "tough luck," but I wonder if they'll reinstate any memberships or not? I'm sure it'll take a few days to get any kind of final answer on this, but so far it seems like they're not going to budge because it was a TOS violation, unbeknownst to the user. It's tough for those who shelled out the $90 for the yearly, though.

My main takeaway...always buy one ticket, separate from everything else, and don't even give the theater employee an opportunity to mess something up. I've read reports about the customer asking for separate transactions and then the employees doing split--don't leave it up to them. That's why it's always best to use the kiosk. Not an option for us here, unfortunately, but I always just ask for one and move on.

I know that it's against TOS to use third party sites like Fandango, Atom & MovieTickets to purchase ticket, but what about using amc.com or Regal site while outside the theater?

Reason for doing this would be because the Kiosk is down and huge line at the box office.

Alas, that's also still against the TOS and will be a ban-able offense.

Ugh...I haven't used my MoviePass since I, Tanya last month.
I was planning on seeing:
12 Strong
Winchester
Hostiles
Den of Thieves
and even 15:17

But with school and me being shit tired after trying to get my 2 year old to go to bed and the last few 10pm showings of a movie ended up with me Snoozing off, I kinda don't want to see those. Now I did see Maze Runner in IMAX which I paid out of pocket (Split transaction between my now Use it or Lose it Points and my debit card and NOT MP).

I already paid out of pocket for Black Panther IMAX 3d so that's set. I am not really sure if I should see any of the movies listed above because some had bad reviews...15:17 being one of them...everything else I already saw.

So I just received my MoviePass in the mail! Only took ten days. Hurrah. Quick question: if I see a flick tonight, it'll start my billing...but not actually charge me until 3/11, right? I paid the 9.95 on the 1st of this month. Just wanna make sure; I have 86 cents in my account right now!
