Seriously. Let's hear some thoughts on the movie we all spent $60-$80 on. People have had it for nearly a week and we've barely heard a peep about the actual DC.

In other news, after many years of teasing, The Scarlet Gospels is actually being published in May. It's good to be a Clive Barker fan right now.

It was a definite improvement over the theatrical cut. It's a more enriching film now due to the additional character development and scenes that fill in the narrative gaps of the TC. There's more of Boone and Lori at the beginning before he departs to Midian and the ending is completely different, with a morbidly beautiful scene that solidifies Boone and Lori's devotion to each other. Regarding the monsters, it was awesome to finally see creatures appear in the film that I had only previously seen in photos found in The Nightbreed Chronicles book.

All in all, the Director's Cut will be my go to version from now on.

I agree with all of the above post. Those little scenes at the beginning with Boone and Lori cement their relationship and makes it clearer why Lori is willing to go to such lengths for him. Instead of Decker calling, here are some pills, smash cut to the suicide attempt, the story has some time to develop. The ending raid on Midian is now much easier to follow and more brutal, and I loved the new ending.

Besides all that, it looks and sounds fantastic. With a deep rumble as the camera goes beneath ground, it took me to Midian in a way I never even dreamed of before this.

Nitpicks: I read the script and comic years ago, so I had a bit of disappointment when some of the things I was looking forward to seeing never showed up. Detective Joyce's ending is the same in both cuts…And Lori and Babette still don’t share a psychic link, which seemed important. I was also surprised that most of the reshot slasher stuff was included here.

All in all, it was great and I don't foresee a reason to ever play the theatrical version again.

How is the director's cut? Is this truly a complete film or is this another Superman Donner cut?

Unlike the Donner cut, which was edited together with footage from unfinished sources (using screen tests for footage), Nightbreed was the opposite. They found and remastered the original film elements of the missing scenes, which were pretty much ready for release. The director's cut footage is in a constant quality for the whole film, there are a few moments of low audio quality, but they're few and far between. Well, this is what I've heard. Also, besides the few slasher scene reshoots, all of the footage is by Barker.

I really loved the extended cut of this film; it helps make the movie feel more complete, although I still also like the ending to the theatrical cut. During the Extended cut, is it just me
[Show spoiler] or does anyone else feel like it would have been cool to see Decker fight Pettine, instead of just showing them meeting and then jumping to showing Decker with his head.

So anyone who has the LE or the DC release, is the Fox logo restored (for both cuts or just Director's Cut)?

I know you get tired of me asking these questions over and over again, but as a completest (and having some OCD :P ), I like to have everything you know?

The Director's Cut opens with the Morgan Creek logo.

I thought this was a Warner film, was this released by Fox theatrically and Warner got home media rights or something, because last time I checked, Warner's logo is all over the Theatrical cut Blu-ray. Heck, Warner was the one that supplied Scream Factory the footage, so it's kind of confusing. Someone please explain, this is kind of weird.

Morgan Creek licensed most of their films previously theatrically distributed by Fox to Warner for home media after Warner took over theatrical distribution for the company. Morgan Creek did 11 films with Fox, and eight of them wound up with Warner. Two of them wound up with Morgan Creeks post-Warner theatrical partner (Universal), with their first movie landing with Lionsgate.

Please, I mean no offence, but this OCD excuse is crap. Do people really have less enjoyment of the movie because it doesn't have the Fox logo at the beginning of the movie. Like, is it " wow, this movie is cool, but it would have been better if it had that 3 second Fox logo before the start of the movie?"

Really????.?

Not me. I tend to be settling down and almost glaze over that bit, sometimes forward if I've seen before and know the movie starts with logo, black screen with cast etc and no over voice.

But...growing up with 80s/90s movies it is nice and warming to see the old style logos. I never remember if it's the correct one or not, except Morgan Creek before the start of Young Guns 2 cause I watched that about 100 times

Just finished watching my brother's copy of the Director's Cut. Vast improvement over the meh theatrical cut. Maybe Clive Barker's best film.

Only if the musical score plays over the logos in the original. Else I couldn't care less.

Not restored, although I did see 20th Century Fox mentioned as distributor in the end credit roll of one or both of em. Pretty sure it was both.
Both cuts open with Morgan Creek logos.

Last night I watched the theatrical version of Nightbreed for the first time. I have mixed feelings about it. Overall it was an enjoyable horror film but nothing great. I'm hoping the director's cut is better and maybe the second viewing will help me appreciate it more. My wife's opinion of the film was much more negative than mine, but she doesn't generally like horror and I think she was looking at Facebook more than she was watching the movie.
