Well considering they gave up a large portion of Interstellar to regain the rights to the F13th franchise, you can be pretty darn sure its greenlit.

What I would love to see in the new Friday the 13th is going back to the tone set in 1980 and 1982, with Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th Part 2.
By tone, I don't mean setting the films in 1981 (although I would be excited to see the 80's setting), but by going back to the Northeast and filming at an actual Summer Camp. I'd be over the moon if they could gain access to film at Camp Nobebosco, outside of Blairstown, New Jersey, and the original Camp Crystal Lake. The whole reason my avatar name is Camp Crystal Lake, is because I love the first film's settings so much. I love small towns and nature. I love seeing the downtown scenes of Blairstown and Hope, New Jersey in Part 1. In a way, the movie is a time capsule of small town 80's life. People were eating at a General store/cafe. I love when Annie walks into the store/cafe and you see the rack of paperback books for sale in the background. It reminded me of my small hometown in Alabama where it was a gas station/convience store/general store/cafe. I could get my gas, a soft drink and candy bar, the latest Marvel or DC comic, Fangoria Magazine, and get them to make me a pizza in their Deli to take home for the night. It was a one stop shop. A mish-mash of everything. Now the store is barely hanging on because of increased specialized competition. An actual grocery store was built right next to my childhood store in the 90's. Also, the camp in part 1 was beautiful and somewhat raw. I could believe that the camp had been shuttered since the 50's-60's. The film did an excellent job of location shooting and incorporating actual nature into the film. I love that the camp is shown to be isolated and very far from town. By simply spending a few minutes of filming Annie walking the country highways and roads, and providing exterior shots of Enos and Jack, Ted, and Marcy driving the same highways and roads, the film to me conveys the isolated setting and the 20 mile distance from the town. The camp, the forest, the small towns, and the roads are bigger characters than the actual cast itself. This is what the latter films after the early 80's forgot. Looks like you'll have to wait even longer for Jason to return.

They will dust off whatever they can and make money. Because they know people will see it. But no comment about the silly PA movie and its name? |

You're better off no seeing the rest. It's a rinse, rather and repeat formula. I saw the first in theaters because so many said it was scary. Probably one of the only times i was angry out of walking a theater. So that says alot there. |
