Here's hoping I'm wrong.
It's been green lit. Not sure how long paramount has before they loose the rights again (if they even do) but it seems to be a fast track project. Not as fast as some of us would like but still pretty important. Depending on shooting schedule we could still make the 2015 date.

Once we get a finished script I'm sure that's when news will start flying for this project.

Shonda: It's warm in this cabin. With that fire going I hardly remembered it's ten degrees outside.
Tiffany: More like six degrees, of Kevin Bacon!
Tiffany/Shonda: Ah ha ha ha ha

Shonda's bra falls to the floor.

Tiffany: There. All undressed. I didn't want you to sweat too much.

Shonda: Thanks baby! This is the best vacation ever. I couldn't ask for more.

The girls lean in and begin to kiss -- Shonda rubbing Tiffany's back. Suddenly the door bursts open sending pieces of wood flying in every direction -- Jason stands in front of them with a huge icicle.

Shonda: Oh My F***ing GOD!!!

Tiffany: Shonda! Run! (Tiffany is quickly impaled through the throat with the pointy end of the icicle)

Shonda bolts for the stairs, her breasts bouncing up and down dangerously -- as she hits the first step her right breast swings upward from the momentum and hits her square in the face with a sickening *SLAP* -- Shonda lands on the stairs -- knocked out.
, I could see something exactly like this happening.

You should travel up to Chicago next month for Mad Mobster True Crime and Horror Expo.
Were going to have Kane there with John Carl Buechler doing his full Jason make up and costume(none of that T-shirt nonsense ) for photo ops

Lar Park Lincoln is also scheduled for the weekend now as well.

Well considering they gave up a large portion of Interstellar to regain the rights to the F13th franchise, you can be pretty darn sure its greenlit.

I think that these movies ceased to be horror movies when Jason got the hockey mask in the third film, and the stories became more about the body counts ,,,
I agree, I think the shift in focus ultimately hurt the series in the end. The first two films do convey more of a feeling of dread and suspense much better then the subsequent films where the emphasis seemed to be purely on the "kills" and new and inventive ways of killing off the cast.

What I would love to see in the new Friday the 13th is going back to the tone set in 1980 and 1982, with Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th Part 2.

By tone, I don't mean setting the films in 1981 (although I would be excited to see the 80's setting), but by going back to the Northeast and filming at an actual Summer Camp. I'd be over the moon if they could gain access to film at Camp Nobebosco, outside of Blairstown, New Jersey, and the original Camp Crystal Lake.

The whole reason my avatar name is Camp Crystal Lake, is because I love the first film's settings so much. I love small towns and nature. I love seeing the downtown scenes of Blairstown and Hope, New Jersey in Part 1.

In a way, the movie is a time capsule of small town 80's life. People were eating at a General store/cafe. I love when Annie walks into the store/cafe and you see the rack of paperback books for sale in the background. It reminded me of my small hometown in Alabama where it was a gas station/convience store/general store/cafe. I could get my gas, a soft drink and candy bar, the latest Marvel or DC comic, Fangoria Magazine, and get them to make me a pizza in their Deli to take home for the night. It was a one stop shop. A mish-mash of everything. Now the store is barely hanging on because of increased specialized competition. An actual grocery store was built right next to my childhood store in the 90's.

Also, the camp in part 1 was beautiful and somewhat raw. I could believe that the camp had been shuttered since the 50's-60's. The film did an excellent job of location shooting and incorporating actual nature into the film. I love that the camp is shown to be isolated and very far from town. By simply spending a few minutes of filming Annie walking the country highways and roads, and providing exterior shots of Enos and Jack, Ted, and Marcy driving the same highways and roads, the film to me conveys the isolated setting and the 20 mile distance from the town.

The camp, the forest, the small towns, and the roads are bigger characters than the actual cast itself. This is what the latter films after the early 80's forgot.

Looks like you'll have to wait even longer for Jason to return.

Paramount Dates The Ring, Friday the 13th and Paranormal Activity Sequels

Quote:
Paramount Pictures has today adjusted its upcoming slate of horror films, bumping Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension from March 13 of this year to October 23 and moving Friday the 13th from its November 13, 2015 release to May 13, 2016. It’s not all delays, however, as Rings, the third film in the studio’s The Ring franchise, will take Friday the 13th‘s original date this November 13.

Details are few on the plot of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, but the new date will bring the film closer in line with the franchise’s traditional Halloween-centric releases. On October 23, The Ghost Dimension will open opposite Breck Eisner’s The Last Witch Hunter (starring Vin Diesel), Jon M. Chu’s 80s cartoon adaptation Jem and the Holograms, and a still-unrevealed Warner Bros. horror film.

Rings, meanwhile, is set to star Matilda Lutz and will open opposite both an untitled New Line comedy and Barry Levinson’s crime drama Rock the Kasbah, starring Shia LaBeouf, Zooey Deschanel, Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Bill Murray and Danny McBride.

The new Friday the 13th, finally, will face off against an untitled comedy from Universal Pictures. Directed by David Bruckner, the film will mark the 13th film overall in the Friday the 13th franchise.

Another Ring movie???!!!!

The Ring 2 was such an atrocious film, I doubt I would even bother seeing a part 3....

This new F13 movie better blow the doors off that failure of a 2009 film...

I really liked the 09 film and is one of my fave F13 films.

They will dust off whatever they can and make money. Because they know people will see it. But no comment about the silly PA movie and its name?

Bro, are you serious???!!! The 2009 film is one of your favorites? Are you ok?

As far as the PA series...I saw the first one and have zero desire to see the rest...I thought the first film was a disaster piece...

No, I am dead serious. It's up there with parts 2,3, and 6.

You're better off no seeing the rest. It's a rinse, rather and repeat formula. I saw the first in theaters because so many said it was scary. Probably one of the only times i was angry out of walking a theater. So that says alot there.

WTF, 2 is the best, but 6 is one of the worst.

I seriously hate the whole zombie Jason concept, although he did look gnarly in 7.

A New Beginning > your favorite Friday the 13th film

[Show spoiler]Kidding. The Final Chapter is probably the best.

Deadline isn't reporting that this IS found footage but the F13thFranchise site is saying they were told it IS??? If it is, this is going to be complete garbage. And I love this franchise, but this is BS.

If this is a found footage F13 film, I will not see this in theaters and will be on a try before I buy basis...

No, actually the original was the first one I saw, and the rest I saw pretty much in order throughout the years. VI is still the best.
