These discs are much better, and should be the default coming and everyone should be able to get them in all sizes, but so far, Sony likes to keep them for those who will give in to the day 1 stress (either get it or you never will) like me.

That again, barring the absolute shitty packaging, I am HAPPY with the disc content.
Unlike the other Dolby Vision re-dos, these Ghostbusters discs have more language options than the previous release, so in theory they should be the default discs going forward.

Honestly, I don't think Sony are pulling a Disney Vault, what would be the benefit in that anyway? They have to release standard editions of them eventually. They're just taking their sweet time giving people the impression that they're limited for that FOMO factor.

I don't think they're pulling a Disney vault either, but they're in no hurry at all to reissue these discs as standard. And they should. At some point they might.. but they might take years.

I'd be more happy if they did a Karate Kid-style 3 pack but I'll bit at full price if they did a 2nd printing.
I wouldnt count on it. they were very specific saying it was intended to be a limited edition. if anything they will probably put out a scaled back version with out the bonus discs.

Got my SPHE box. It’s one replacement box only. I clearly asked for two and submitted proof of purchasing two so I dug up the email and asked for another one.

I literally only ordered the second one because the first one was damaged.

So is the UK Ultimate Collection the same as the US release, disc and content wise?

They probably won’t issue reprints of this, but it’s possible they’ll do some 40th anniversary set in 2024. But even then it’s no guarantee

The Afterlife sequel is tentatively dated for Dec 2023 as well, between that and the anniversary I'm sure we'll get an additional release. That's what I'm holding out for.

As far as deluxe boxed sets go, the artwork design is a cute idea but the way it's just printed flat onto the box, makes it look like a novelty easter egg. (Or the way novelty easter egg boxes used to look, like a Transformer or a Yorkie Truck etc).

Looks great on the shelf in the store. But after you've got it home and consumed the chocolate and whatever goodies you got with it, the packaging that made it seem so impressive and value for money in the store is just another piece of flimsy trash.

That's the impression I get from it. It may be completely different if it's in your hands and housing your GB collection.

What is the consensus for the transfer for Ghostbusters? I don't want to say it's bad but I think it's probably one of the worst UHDs I own. It just seems old, soft and not very detailed. The color also seems desaturated and it just feels like an old scan overall.

Does the source itself have problems or was it just filmed with cheap film stock? For some reason it just feels like the picture should have so much more to offer than it does but maybe this is the best we will ever get.

Watch Groundhog Day, another Sandpaper looking transfer that I love, along with Ghostbusters. Maybe you should have bought the new one with the 3 or is it 4 Women in it or Afterlife?? Yeah, just get Afterlife if you want a sparkling clear ghostbuster with better Atmos soundtrack. Or wait for the next 8K transfer like me, LOL they say I'm crazy. I just like movies.... Well a few.

It’s certainly not flimsy, quite solid and looks great on display in my lounge but it’s the contents that really matter and in that regard it’s one of the best sets I have.

I think it looks great. When i first watched it I thought it looked disappointing but the more I watch it the better it looks. The fine details and colours and HDR look great, it looks like the scan extracted everything form the negative possible.

I was just as blasé as dear contrary Marty there about the box…until I got it and now I think it’s fookin awesome. Not super practical but not as stupidly finicky as some sets are either, and the green light when you open up the ‘trap’ is a nice touch.

Not flimsy until Amazon ships the thing in a plastic bag. It is definitely one of the better 4K box sets out there and a terrific presentation and of course looks great on any shelf or displayed.

So I don’t wanna spoil the fun for anyone, but if you requested a replacement box from Sony you will receive an absolutely baffling apology gift from them via FedEx in the next few days.

All I can say is that somebody at SPHE has a sense of humor.

And before anyone gets excited, what I received has absolutely nothing to do with Ghostbusters whatsoever. You’d think they’d have a warehouse full of Ghostbusters merch that would be more pleasing to those of us who paid $100+ for a Ghostbusters box set, but you’d think wrong apparently,
