I have the SB. The colors, the sound, the dialog, the score, all are better.
Please see above. ^^^ I just picked up the original Halloween a couple of days ago and have already watched it twice.

How's it going Mahatma? I'd like to check it out. I really like Carpenter's older films.

Never seen Labyrinth. Willow is kind of like a late 80's Lord of the Rings ripoff, but I really enjoyed it. The A/V quality was pretty amazing too. Much better than I expected. Here's my quick review from the Willow thread:

I was also completely blown away by the A/V quality too. The detail, depth, color and contrast were pretty amazing and I thought it was very consistant all the way through. The audio was probably even better. Lots of directional surround information, very wide stereo imaging on the front soundstage, and a surprising amount of LFE activity.

I was also really surprised by the bonus feature on the matte paintings used in the film. I didn't even realize that those scenes were paintings. Some of the best matte work ever.

It wasn't on tv last night. A friend of mine had it on his dvr and burned me a copy.
It's in 720p and DD 2.0, and it's cropped to 16x9 full frame.

I just picked this up on my way home from work:

I'm heading to Middle-earth!

I just finished watching it for the first time since I saw it in the theater in Imax 3D 48fps. I really didn't care for the 3D 48fps, but in 2D 24fps in my HT it was great. Pretty much a flawless A/V presentation, and I actually enjoyed the movie much more this time around. Now I can't wait for the extended edition and The Desolation of Smaug this fall!

Cool. I love my LotR EE's. Do you think I should wait to buy the EE of The Hobbit? Think there will be much difference?

I think Peter Jackson said that the EE of An Unexpected Journey will have about 25 minutes of added footage, plus I'm sure it will have a plethora of excellent bonus features. It will probably be about eight months before it's released (right before The Desolation of Smaug premieres in theaters).

With LotR, I bought the TE BDs on release day, then sold them and put the money towards the EE when they were released, which is what I'll be doing with The Hobbit movies too. As big of a Tolkien fan as I am, there's no way I'm waiting eight months to have them in my collection, and I paid $19 for this one and can probably sell it for about $9, so it's like an eight month rental for $10.

If the LotR EE is any indication, the added footage will definitely be worth it.

Thanks for stopping by Russ. I've been working a lot more the last couple of weeks, so I haven't had as much time to hang around in here, and from what I've read, you have too. I hope you're doing well buddy.

I'm about to go watch the new Hobbit BD again tonight after watching it last night, and I never do that. I really enjoyed it much more last night than I did when I saw it at the theater.
