Fair enough but I was enjoying the thread (including your comments) until we ended up having several pages of nothing but gifs. It’s rubbish when on mobile also because it takes a while to scroll through each post that way. Not such a big deal when I’m on my laptop or tablet. Maybe I just have gif overload from various social media feeds etc.. I’m sick of the bloody site of them. I just felt it was excessive.

The kids evade Pennywise just like that in the novel, countless times.

Like the novel.

Henry* in addition, we can see that in Part 2.

Actually, that was a big thing in the book....I don't think you read the novel at all.
I didnt read the book. See my above comments.

Kids evading Pennywise time and again hurts the film though, IMO. What are the rules? Apparently there arent any since, well, what Penny can and cannot do is never established and appears to be totally random. This kind of thing is typical for many films so Ill concede that IT isnt the only film to have these issues. But there were a lot of "lead ups to nothing" in this movie where it seemed Penny could have just killed whichever kid he was messing with at the time. Thats why my theory, which I never said it was fact, made sense that he can only kill when close to the sewer. Thats what we see on screen. Just going by what they show us, ya know?

Does Ben not end up with Bev though? Love triangle aside, the film makes it appear that she hooks up with Bill. If thats "right" then great.

Hank is a common knickname for Henry.

While Bev has a lot of affection for Ben, it's Bill that she's attracted to. It's not until that they're adults that she and Ben finally hook up (and even then, it comes after she and Bill bump uglies in a hotel room).

So yeah, your information is wrong. Back to the sewer with you!

The kids just get away, it just happens. In the novel, IT likes to scare kids to "salt the meat" so to speak...so it could be continued terror scares them more.

As kids they have a thing, and Bev does not reciprocate those feelings. As an adult, they reunite and get together (after Bill cheats on his wife with her..which is awful and borderline makes me hate adult Bill)

Doesn't matter. That'd be like calling Richie "Dick" or "Richard"..you still got their name wrong.

I still have no idea why you chose to talk about things that happened in a book that you now claim to have no idea about.

You bumped into the clique. They communicate through gifs and try to turn the forum into Snapchat when they are together. They will thank each other for any negative comments made towards people they don’t like (in my opinion of course ) and generally act like musketeers. I remember checking their profiles months ago and they are mostly quite young so I’m guessing they just need to learn some life lessons and lose some of the cockiness (they will mostly).
They are just trying to trigger you but I don’t think they do it to get people suspended or banned, just for their own amusement imo. Al least I hope not.

I really enjoyed the movie. IT is on the side of good movie adaptation of a Stephen King novel not as great as Stand By Me and Shawshank Redemption but somewhere with The Green Mile, Carrie, and Misery.

I thought it was better than The Shining mainly because the tone of the movie stayed close to the book.

The actress who played Beverly Marsh was fantastic. The cool girl you wish was your friend in school.

Oh I’m not triggered at all. It’s funny actually. The thread police or whatever ya call them. Glad they’ve mastered the art of face chat, snap book and all of those other "productive" things. Good for them. There are other inconsistencies in the film too but there’s no point is bringing them up because quite frankly I don’t care at all. It’s a movie. Let this thread fall back and out of sight like it did until I resurrected it. My fault!

All good here.

I watched this late last night for the first time.

I thought it was pretty good, but not great.

It’s definitely not the shit show that most horror remakes are. But it’s also just a little too overproduced for my taste. Too much dramatic music and tracking shots/pans in unnecessary moments.

The lighting was too pretty and some of the kid dialogue was obnoxious and glib. And of course there was a lot of CGI.

But it’s a good, entertaining movie and in this day and age, I suppose that’s really all you can ask for.

...how many sequels should we expect?

Yeah, I really hope the mega success of the film doesn't give Warners any ideas about dragging it out into a trilogy or somesuch. Keep it a tight, but still with enough room to satisfyingly adapt the very long novel, two-parter.

If they want to milk it, that's what the proposed different cuts on home video are for. Theatrical + extended for both films, then that super cut that combines both. With inevitable repackages, anniversary editions, etc. in the future.

They should seek out other Stephen King works to adapt instead of stretching one property past it's limits. There are stories that haven't been made into film once, and others like Silver Bullet and Children of the Corn that could use a nice readaptation... not saying they're bad I enjoy them thoroughly Silver Bullet more so, but the potential is there for giving those books another crack at it.
