Drinkmore, what possessed you to make you share with us the aspect of your toes and nails on this forum.

Are you crazy ? Now because of you I have just lost my faith in mankind.

No wait, I lost that a long time ago. But still ... I am now discombobulated.

I went to the docs today. He said it would grow out and should right itself back to a regular nail again. He clipped off about a quarter of the nail. I will post a pic later. No infection or anything.

I am happy

I lost my tumbnail at work about a year ago...got stuck in the machine and machines don't stop..so, I felt the tugging sensation and yanked back...lo and behold..my thumbnail was gone..I even chipped the bone at the very tip of it...it still grows back funny...has a little ripple right in the middle where the nail gouged into the bed..it feels funny when I push on it, too..

I know I am not in the minority when I say I absolutely cannot wait to see this new picture.

the nail bed is so slimey...that liquid sheen is actually the hardening of a new nail coming in.

I learned that with my thumb escapade.

It's on the front page - It never did hurt which is weird. Even when he clipped it, no pain or anything.

It's a good slimey. Like that way because I keep it covered and you know how your finger gets when you get it wet and its got a band aid on it.

Liquid sheen? Where at the bottom or on the right?

That's pretty cool!

Last Thursday, my wife was looking at Chef's knives at Target. Dropped one and caught it with her thumb. That evening, she gave herself 8 sutures on the palmar surface of the tip of the thumb without anesthetic. I was indeed impressed.

I don't know what hurt more, that thumb, or this toe. The thumb looks better, though.

Uhhhhhhh...sorry to rain on your parade, but I wouldn't necessarily bank on your Dr's prognosis.

I've got the same issue as you, on the same spot of both big toes. Because I'm type 1 diabetic, infections are a problem, so as you would already know, these things get infected...PERIOD. So, I had the one on my right toe surgically removed by a Dr., twice. Because it came back, I went for a 3rd procedure that involved lifting the skin at the nail bed and killing the root. That toe is A O K.

My left toe is now causing problems, but it doesn't get as bad but I figured I'd nip it in the bud so 2 yrs ago I had it take care of the correct way...so I thought. Even though the nail is narrower, it's still ingrowing at the edge.

These SOB's are chronic under normal circumstances. Good luck, but be prepared, you could be posting more gruesome details in the future.

Sorry to hear that.

Hopefully I will be fine. Everything is healing quite nicely I must say. If anything else further happens - I wll be sure to post the gory pics! I hope not though
