The UK disc is 1080i . Shame, but still looks pretty good. Great film.

Update on this. There's only Norwegian subtitles on the Norwegian release... So you have to go for the UK disc for English subs.

Was on the bus yesterday and saw the advert for this in the free paper The Metro:

Well done to their promo team. I'll be watching this at the weekend. I prefer the image of the man looking the other way as it's intriguing.

Interesting that the advert is placed by a company based in Austria and that they issue the advert on the 70th anniversary of the invasion of Poland by the Nazis and their friends.

Interesting fact of the day: Død snø seems to mean "Dead Snow". Those crazy Norwegians!

Love the 2nd poster:

...reminds me of the beautiful La Grande Illusion (set during WWI of course).

Yes, we're crazy.

The reason for the title however is due to some rather stupid copyrights... The movie was originally titled Rød snø (meaning Red Snow). This was sort of a homage to a cult Norwegian TV-series from the 80's with the same title (scared the crap out of me when I was young...). But the producers of the TV-series didn't allow Wirkola to use this title for his movie.

So, they changed it to Død snø (Dead Snow).

I love the tagline on the UK cover.

Ein! Zwei! Die!!

Makes me smile

Mine turned up yesterday and it will be me Friday night viewing

And speaking of Scandinavian titles, which was the country where the Van Damme movie Derailed was called "Terrør Fart"?

The Norwegian title was TERROR I HØY FART. And "fart" means speed in Norwegian, and has nothing to do with passing gas...

So the translation of the title would be something like: TERRORISM AT HIGH SPEED.

There's only Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0 sound on the Norwegian release. VERY dissapointing that there's no HD sound.

Just finished watching this -a disappointment.

Started well but I reckon far too much of this was done on a sound stage and CGI creeps in too. And I was expecting zombies. Never seen any.

I reckon it's trying to be a bit like Shaun of The Dead (a great film) whereas had it stuck to The Evil Dead territory (it starts off with that feel) it could have been very good. Just got silly and slick like a gazillion English language horror comedies.

Quite liked the actor Lasse Valdal (one to watch) but I'll give the film 2/10 for the opening. Norway (assuming it was all Norway) looked beautiful.

I'm sure there'll be a Dead Snow 2 soon.
