Same here, I went through a stack of about 8 copies of the Matrix the other day until I found one with the best "case" but once its on my shelf I pretty much stop caring about it.

I am seriously anal about this as well. I can't have an mangled cover art or cracked cases. This goes for my entire collection. I go so far as to include a note to my ebay sellers that I am a collector and to take extra care in packaging to make sure it arrives to me in the best condition possible.

I know I care about the cases. I buy the majority of BD's from ebay. Once in a while a case comes in broken. I ask the seller to replace the case. Some do. Canada Computers in Toronto sells single BD "ELITE" cases for .79cents. I have a few BD's that are multi disk. Godfather, Bladerunner. I have no idea where to get a 5 disk case.

If I get a broken case, I'll replace it. No big deal, as long as the disc still works.
I'm more ticked by the three-disc cases, which break pretty easily, and I can't seem to find any empty ones to purchase. Anybody know where to find any of these? |

Yes I am fussy about case imperfections. It's only happened a couple of times where they've just straight up broken though. I love digibooks and the old/new criterion cases. If they followed those formats then I think we would see less case imperfections, i.e those d@mn environmental friendly cases that make it easier to tear a hole in your covers, and Elite fat cases (Lost) that break the first time you open them. And before you reply to this post: I know, I know, a lot of people don't like the digibooks or the criterion blu cases, but yet would you prefer the environ friendly case with the holes in them?

Predator 2 Quantum of Solace The Man with the Golden Gun License to Kill Taken Fargo Mostly Fox/MGM releases, it's their new thing. You've probably seen it: it has the hole in the blue plastic in the shape of the recycle symbol. |

I actually don't mind the recycled cases either. I haven't had a problem with them yet, and it feels good to know that I own less plastic. That does remind me of the case for "Baraka," a crummy cardboard thing with a slot in it. That one is rather cheap and inane. |

I'm pretty picky as well! I can take a small crease or two in the cover and if it's a case I can easily replace it's not that big of a deal if it's broken or not. I get most of my blu-rays from Amazon and since they have started mailing everything out in envelopes instead of boxes I get a lot more that are damaged. I just got one last week of Predator 2 that you could tell someone had stepped on the envelope! The blu-ray case was'nt damanged suprisingly but if that one had been I would have sent it back. The multi disk sets like Blade Runner and the season sets like Star Trek and Lost I'll send back if the case is broken just because so far there is'nt a place to get replacement cases for those. I even sent an email asking Warner if I could get replacement cases through them for Blade Runner and the email I got back it seemed they did'nt even know where they got the cases themselves

Yeah they're actually called recycled cases, but I call them environment friendly, you know with all the environmental friendly craze that seems to be goin' on. And ya know, I'm all for it, but you don't want to know how I feel about it.

I hate the glue residue from the plastic sealers at the top of the case--
it's mostly older releases that seem to have them (maybe because they've been sitting for a long time in a warehouse and the glue has sealed itself stronger?) , if I can't pull the strip without leaving glue all over, I'll cut the strip with a boxcutter and leave the strip at the very top of the disc. I also dislike having cases that seem to have creases all over the plastic case-- I remember being irked about BLADE RUNNER-- the whole surface of the case had creases all over making the appearance unappealing-- but, I can make do with all of that if it happens-- broken cases are another thing-- thankfully it very rarely happens... |
