I'm gonna wait until I get the calibration disc and protector before I do that... y'know, just in case there are any improvements.
Benjamin Button looks like BBC drama. :| EDIT: Also, I highly doubt it's the PS3, because it does it on my 360 and PS2 also. EDIT 2: I just got back from Best Buy. They recommended their calibration services for around $300. Should I do it? I'm just worried that the television might be the problem and that calibration won't help. I wouldn't get an ISF 'calibrator' from best buy. Have a look around avforums and look for a well respected isf calibrator in your area. Also, have you considered getting all the settings for your tv from a demo set-up in store (this will tell you if you have a faulty unit or not). Plus I don't know if you tv can be calibrated to a large degree (some simply dont have the options required), which is also something to consider.

The guy said that Best Buy is the only place that can do it between Savannah, GA (where I live) and Atlanta. The distance is roughly four hours.
I've been told ghosting can never fully be solved, but it can be tuned out to a certain extent. ffffffffffffffffffffffffffff- I feel like I'm in such a bind. |

i gotta be honest....im no pro at all, so take this with a grain of salt, but i've never heard of a TV that ghosts as badly as you say yours does right out of the box with all the "special enhancements" disabled. to me, that simply doesn't make any sense. you shouldn't have to dish out any amount of money for a normal functioning TV to get rid of serious ghosting. i have a samsung a450 that ghosted pretty bad in many movies....i did some googling, stumbled upon samsung's support website, and found one solution to be turning off the DNR feature. sure enough, that fixed the problem. i know you said you tried this and it made it worse, but all i'm saying is maybe try calling Samsung support before you decide to spend hundreds of dollars that may not be necessary. having a tv calibrated to optimize picture is one thing, but to do it because you're experiencing a ghosting problem that you say is pretty bad is something else IMO

Yeah, I took it back today and got a much nicer LG. I've heard so much crap about Samsung moniters, so I'm done with Samsung televisions.
The LG is also 32". It's 120 Hz (the Samsung was 60) and also 1080p. I only paid $33 extra for it. I'm in the middle of calibrating it with the disc Suntory referred me to. I'll report back when I have a verdict. |
