I actually really enjoy most of Bay's movies. He's not my favorite director as I like action movies that are really plot and character driven, not effects driven, but when it comes to a pure visual experience for the audience, Bay is one of the very best (if not THE best) going right now. Visually, his movies are always really, really cool. His movies are pure, mindless fun, and those types of movies definitely have their place of value. He is what he is though, and he knows it. It's not like he's trying to direct re-makes of Schindler's List or Amistad, or something like that. He sticks to what he's good at, which is....."Awesome". I think people pile on him because it's the "in" thing to do now for couch film critics/snobs.

Why? They just compile critics reviews. There's probably some on there that shouldn't be included, but the overall ratio is what counts.

Just my opinion, they really gave some good movies a rotten rating.

Well it's not the site's fault. It only compiles reviews from different critics. Blame the latter, but how can you blame the site?

I think RT gets it right pretty much all the time. That's the great thing about giving a composite score derived from hundreds of reviews. If we're talking about Bay movies on RT, neither Tformers 1 nor 2 were good movies. They were fun, yes, but not good, strong movies. There's a very big difference between enjoying something because it's mindless fun and enjoying something because it's really good. I really enjoy going to my nephew's school plays, but that doesn't mean the play is good. Michael Bay directs high school plays, just with tons of explosions and really cool effects. They're fun, and completely worth my $10, but I'll never call any of his movies that he's made to this point "good".

Personally, I don't like Michael Bay's movies. I don't see what's so entertaining with big explosions. It's not that I don't like blockbusters, I do, but I find most to be bad. I do enjoy movies like ID4 and Ironman because they're more than just explosions, there are good character development and decent stories. The problem with Bay is that everything is indeed like a big budget commercial and it lacks character. His movies are just sequences of beautiful images that are fine for commercials, but empty for movies. Ironically, I liked The Island very much, it's one of the best action flicks I've seen in a long time. I don't know, maybe it's because I like the actors, especially McGregor, but I felt there was something more to it too. The parts I liked the least about The Island was when the action scenes were too Bay-like with needless explosions. The other movie I like quite a bit is The Rock. Compared to his other movies, this one is rather tame and that's how I like it. Pearl Harbor I thought it was entertaining enough. I guess I don't mind a little bit of romance even when it's rather cliché.

The Transformers movies I find quite boring. Too much explosions and stupid characters. You guys may like to see Megan Fox because she's hot, but I need more than that. I need to see why Shia's characters fell for the girl and vice versa if they're going to add a couple in the story. Unfortunately Fox's character is just hot air, there's absolutely no emotion, just skin and sexy poses for young males to get excited about. I just didn't care for any character; they could have all died and it wouldn't bother me one bit. On top of that, the story with alien robots are super boring. This is just not for me. Actually, most of his movies are not for me.

The Rock was his best movie by far. You can't deny that his movies are entertaining, thats what movies are for, entertainment, plain and simple. I do like a better storyline over loads of special effects, but they don't hurt.

Looks at the link on my signature; it's the full Verizon FiOS commercial with him. I thought it would be interesting!

Not to me. Beside The Island and The Rock, I find Bay's movies boring. I was not entertained by either Transformers and his other movies. Most of the time, I agree with the critics.

So many terrible films in that graphic. Any idiot can make films with explosions and hot girls.
