A new transfer would have been better.

Digibooks...

It's a pity they didn't release them over here... I have to import them.

That Honks. If I would have known they were going to release it in a normal case I wouldn't have bought the digibook. I don't care for them much.

Sounds like they're just getting it ready for the second-run releases, hence dropping the expensive CD disk and unnecessary packaging.

Which proves that, with Blu and DVD, it's still the early bird that gets the (digibook/first-release extras) worm, even if it is the second mouse who gets the (lower price/remaster) cheese.

Warner and Sony only. And yeah, it would be nice to see them go. Believe it when I see it.

To each their own I guess. I have the digibook edition of Amadeus and am quite happy with it.

Then he lied his @$$ off on the commentary track on the laserdisc, because he specifically criticized the scenes added back for the so-called "director's cut" and argued forcefully about why the scenes hurt the film and why he cut them. Doesn't sound like a "preferred" version to me, sounds like a marketing gimmick.

Exactly, this transfer has some issues that need to be addressed. They we're significant enough that Penton went to Warner Bros. to talk to them about it.
Robert Harris openly criticized the treatment this Oscar winner received.

As for the Digibooks, I actually like them.

Cheers

Man, that's great news.

I didn't buy the digibook, but you know what?

I hate digibooks, so this is welcome news for me. But I think I may have to relent, and have posted my non-digibook imports for sale/trade. If anyone wants the non-digibook version of Amadeus (or Shawshank or Cuckcoo's Nest), I'll trade for the digibook version, straight up.

Damn you Sony!

I'm a big fan of digibooks, and certainly hope they intend to release more.

i don't mind the digibooks so much since they are sturdy, but the transfer of Amadeus was slammed even by Robert Harris and he made it through what I think was 20 minutes and had to call it quits... I felt like the trasnfer could have been better and was DNR'd badly... on smaller screens it isn't as noticable but I ended up selling off my copy, all I could think about while watching it was the fact the transfer was off and couldn't think about the story much more.

I love digi-books. I wonder how much they'll sell the regular set for. The digi was $14.99 not too long ago.

That's the problem with Warner these days - they focus more on the superficial (style of cases, gift box sets, gimmicks, etc.) instead of optimizing what really counts - the PQ quality. At least they are using lossless audio now, but look how long that took them to be consistent with it.
