Default 'Amadeus' to be re-released in a regular BD case

The Digital Bits site is reporting today that Warner will be re-releasing the director's cut of 'Amadeus' on September 15th in a regular BD case instead of the present digibook packaging.

I'm wondering whether they will be doing this kind of re-release for most or all of the other titles already released as digibooks. Perhaps the fact that a significant number of people don't like the digibook packaging has not been totally lost on them after all.

It makes me also wonder whether they intend to continue using the digibook packaging in the future.

Sounds like good news to me.

That is an interesting development. But in my case, tho' it reminds me I still need to pick up this digibook title to add to my collection.

LONG LIVE THE DIGIBOOK!!!

I'm ok with them if they want to keep releasing digibooks for a limited time. But I don't expect them to keep every release in digibook form throughout the blu's cycle. As long as they don't jump on the "environmental friendly" cases bandwagon.

It's not a Warner release. I've read that the ITV release in the UK wasn't that good.

I'm not a fan of digibooks either so this is good news. However, with some fantastic graphic artists in the forums and on cover sites, I can usually always get a customer cover and put it in the standard Blu-ray cases.

Looks like I'll have to buy this sooner than later now.

The idea of Digibooks becoming similar to slipcovers as in they only make them in the first run and then revert to standard cases later on would seem to please everyone.

Yeah, well I'm a punk when it comes to that stuff... don't do much online ordering, even if its not imported... I tend to wait for good sales and buy at B&M... I don't like to wait on a shipment (even tho I will wait FOREVER for a good in store sale) or risk something being damaged... I guess I'm old school and like to walk around lookin at all the pretty stuff too

Man, I just want the version that won all those Oscars...not the version the director objected to.

Directors cut is not the one that the director objects to, its the one that the director prefers and wanted to initially release, but did not for various reasons, i.e. time contstraints, push from the studio, that kinda stuff... most of the time, with emphasis on MOST, I prefer the directors cut of a film...

Makes sense, those digibooks must cost a lot to produce. Although I like them, I don't own Amadeus. I'm still waiting for the theatrical cut, plus the PQ wasn't very good on this version.

I like digibooks. I'd love to see other studios releasing their most celebrated catalog titles in digibooks. As far as I know only Warner, Criterion, and Sony have released Region A digibooks.

I wonder if they'll strip out the music sampler at the same time.

I just looked at the back cover art for the Amadeus BD re-release on DVDEmpire.com, and it looks like they have stripped out the music CD sampler.
